i cant help you with the accommodation, but i have stayed in marmaris a few times over recent previous xmas's , the weather is around 15-18 in the daytime and freezing at night, so winter coats are needed for night time, we have been lucky and had a few nice days where we were able to sit on the beach in t shirts, but certainly not warm enough to swim or sun bathe. it can rain quite heavy again we found it only rained at night whilst we were there so we might have been lucky, so much warmer than the uk.

we found most of the old town near the marina open for shops , bars restaurants etc, the bazaar mainly open. but the main long strip of shops ,bars etc are closed in the winter

We went to Algarve last christmas and that went really cold at night but fairly warm during day - so sounds like much the same.

My friend have stopped at these apartments she says they are lovely the owners are english and are really friendly as someone as said the marina end is open but the rest i think are hit and miss my friend now lives out in marmais the weather is really cold at night could you tell me who you booked this with as cant find it hope this info helps

We booked the Sincerity through our turkish friend who is in Marmaris.
Didn't like to insult him and ask if the apartments were okay!!

We booked flights through flythomascook and got a really good deal.
Fly out Xmas eve and come back News Years eve. £500 pound for three adults.
Go to Marmaris every year normally in June/July - so know it will be really different but cant wait!!

Which hotel do your friends have?
We are booked to go 13th July 2008 for two weeks and are taking our friends this year, who have not been for about 12 years, so they will see a big difference.
Also it will be very hot in July, we normally go in June and it's hot enough then!!
We love Marmaris and just can't keep away - we have had some great holidays there and met some great friends - turkish and english and they always make you feel welcome.

My friends have the Mehtap hotel which is on the beach im going either 20th June or 1st July not sure yet ive been going 6 years now but i think its lost some of its atmosphere now but thats only my thoughts.

Yes you are right - it has lost some of it's atmosphere - but it's still good - must have something for us to keep going back year after year - tried other places but just not the same!!!
