Skiing in April

You should still get lots of snow at the beginning of April in many of the European resorts. To be sure, stick to one of the snow sure reasorts i.e at high altitude.

April in Europe can be dodgey if you don't stick with high altitude resorts which have glaciers such as Kaprun and Val Thorens. My choice would be Bannf as their snow record is great even in May! My brother went mid April of last year and the snow was as good as it was in January and March which is when I usually go. Fantastic for beginners with plenty of green runs and good nursery slopes in both Sunshine and Lake Louise. My choice of hotel is the Caribou and it is gorgeous. They have a great restaurant called The Keg and the bar is lively and friendly and we had many an enjoyable evening apres ski. For ultimate enjoyment and very lively apres ski look out for the Irish Bar in downtown Banff. It is fantastic and the guiness is pretty good too (so my husband tells me ha ha). Whatever you choose, ensure you book lessons. In Canada you will have no problems with a language barrier and they are exceptional teachers. Enjoy your holiday.

In Europe, look for resorts that have Glaciers. Tignes in France has a glacier and can thus offer ski-ing for most of the year.
