I have been trying to find a skiing holiday for May this year but as of yet have had no luck. I have been on various internet websites and all bookings seem to end in April and restart about October. Is it unheard of to go skiing at this time of year or am I just unlikely?! As I have not skiied before If anyone can offer any light on this subject then your help would be much apprecited.
Thanks

You can go skiing in may but you will need to go to a resort with a glacier, or maybe somewhere south of the equater like new zealand or chile. Saas Fee in Switzerland has a glacier but obviosuly the skiing will be limited as the runs down to the village will be closed. you are really better of going between december and april if you can.

This was the feeling I was beginning to get. I have looked in the Crystal brochure and they have a list of summer ski resorts but doesn't actually state when the "summer season" is! Looks like it might be another sun holiday this year and maybe ski end of the year or early next.

Once again thank you. We were going to get a last minute deal anyway as we have found it is much cheaper and more for your money in past years. We were looking at booking on the internet purely for prices so we can set our budget not actually looking to book till 1-2 weeks before. In your experience have you had no problems with last minute ski deals? We have had our choices narrowed down to switzerland, france and austria for our holiday purely down to the fact these are "apparently" the best resorts for this time off.
I have never booked a last minute ski deal but i would have thought you would be fine. I always like to book in advance so that i can look forward too it (sad i know) and i also like to read up on the resort etc before i go. we are hoping to book a last minute one for next year though, so fingers crossed!
I have booked last minute and did not have any problem. Picked tickets up at the airport and booked all the ski equipment at the welcome meeting.
Just a thought, dont forget to check out kaprun in Austria for a fantastic, glacier skiing experience - always a good resort for summer skiing...... also, Obertaurn where we have stayed at height of ski season is very high altitude and their season is longer than most of the other resorts in Austria..
