Hi,
Has anyone been to Passo Tonale Italy? We're having a few lessons here in UK, so will be beginnings really and so far are thinking about Italy for our first ski trip Jan 07. Any recommendations or advice welcome as it's all so new to us! There are 2 of us, obviously needs to be fairly cheap and good for beginners - Also like some bars and restaurants for the evening. I'm browsing the Thomson ski brochure but there's so much choice!
Thanks
Cejay
Good friends of mine skied Passo Tonale this year and thoroughly enjoyed it. If you are looking for fairly lively nighlife, then consider Sauze D'oulx in The Milky Way ski area. It's a large linked area, which is suitable for all standards of skiers. Resort is fairly cheap in comparison to Passo Tonale.
Domobianca for skiing is a great place to start. Its in North Italy, and suits all levels and ages. It is not yet an overpopulated resort, and has no on site hotels, but hotels are around within 15-20 mins, and most cater for them with a shuttle or transfer service anyway in the morning and afternoon.
Yeah Yeah Yeah, bh9zzz, I think we've all got the message now that you've posted it in almost every topic.
Me and my kids get a bit lonely! It would be nice to see more English be a bit more adventurous and discover new ski areas such as this.
These forums always after advice, yet only ever want to here the easy option I think!
everyone seems to go for the same options, and not realise there are some fantastic places away from the norm.
For me and my two children I pay under £600 for a week (thats flights, transfers, half board, 7 nights accomodation, shuttle, ski passes, ski school (3 hours a day) ski and boot hire etc..
Yeah yeah yeah I'm plugging it!!! Why not its a bargain.. And its a fantastic place, especially now, as it is not over crowded, so for skiers who like their space, its great!
I would never pay the travel agents prices. The skiing forums on here are asking for a disscusion and thats just my contribution!
I use to ski as a child & Teenage years in the area you mentioned in the Sauze D'oulx, which I do agree was great, and as a child have great memories there, but on my return a few years ago, the prices have just rocketed in comparison to where I go now. I would be paying double there.
I wouldnt go there with children now, but yes, if your'e into nightlife more than the ski, then its a good area from what I recall, but that was 2002 season.
so can you give me advise how you book your trip
flights, hotels, transfers, skiing
thanks
colin
Yes Bh9zzz I'd also like to know the answer to that last question.
Are you connected to this company bh9zzz as you are posting from Italy?
