I hadn't heard that but come to think of it, we did see building work going on close to it.

The airport rail link was expected to open in Oct 2008 - but probably later. It will connect with skytrain & subway in a couple of places. The line will terminate at a new terminal in Makkasan ( the area just north of the Baiyoke Tower / Pantip Plaza area of the city centre.

It'll be similar to the rail link and central terminal in KL. The Airport Link line will be 28.6 km long and will use Siemens madetrainscapableof160km/h. Express journeys taking 15 minutes and Commuter trips 27 minutes.

Express Service - Suvarnabhumi Airport - Makkasan (City Air Terminal - interchange with MRT Blue Line (Phetchaburi Station))

Commuter Service - Suvarnabhumi Airport - Lad Krabang - Thub Chang - Hua Mark - Ramkhamhaeng - Makkasan (City Air Terminal - interchange with MRT Blue Line (Phetchaburi Station)) - Ratchaprarop - Phayathai (interchange with BTS Sukhumvit Line (Phayathai Station))

Still building the stations when we passed by on Saturday, would not fancy lugging suitcases down the many steps at the stations, they only have escalators going up into the old stations and none going down, taxi's a better deal if you go out of airport turn left then go fifty yards to public taxi desk.

Steer clear of the limousine/taxi Mafia inside the airport, was quoted 700baht inside the airport to go to Sukhumvit soi 34, went outside and got the public taxi for 270baht plus 50baht airport fee if you go on the toll roads when traffic very busy add another 65baht.
