just back from Zakynthos as far as i am aware there are designated smoking areas still in all Greek airports, [usualy larger than the no smoking area]

Anyone know if you can smoke in Monastir airport in Tunisia.
You could last time I was there Crispy. When you've gone through to the departure lounge there is a cafe with stools and you can have a cig there (the cafe also takes dinars). Came back via Tunis last week which is very civilised - nice cafe in departures with small tables, chairs and ashtrays
The UK has got is seriously wrong, im just back from Malaysia, i flew into Singapore then onto KL, each airport has deisgnated smoking areas, with seats, large ashtray bins, drinks machines etc. Why cant the UK provide outside areas airside for smokers? Makes for a much less stresses passenger, which must be better than the opposite!!
it seems other countries/airports apply a common sense approach to the smoking issue in that they accomodate all passengers and their preferences.
Just wondering if there is still no smoking area in dublin airport airside, and if there is where!!
Also recently been in malaga airport and a previous post stated that there were 3 smoking areas airside , i couldn't find one i could be very stupid though ,thanks in advance for any info!!
No smoking anywhere in Dublin airport, last place to smoke is outside at the dropoff point before going into the checkin hall.
The sign outside Malaga airport still refers to 'designated areas'.
What is the position at Gatwick's South terminal at the moment? Last time we passed through they had closed the upper outside areas, making it quite a hike to get down to the lowest level for a ciggie then back up to the departures area. It's the duplicity of the situation which annoys me, being treated as a third class citizen for actually smoking and then being offered cigarettes for sale by the thousand once you get airside!!
the designated smoking areas are down stairs outside to the RIGHT as you look at the teminal building, no smoking under the canopy [though most seem to] terminal buildings car parks ets are all no smoking [noth terminal has a similar set up]
I take the point that many people do not make it to the designated smoking area at the ends of the Gatwick terminal. If you're pushing a trolley with two cases (and a mind of it's own), it's usually impossible to navigate through the many passengers and their luggage awaiting pickup and the various other obstructions along the terminal front. The smokefree legislation refers to substantially enclosed areas - at the moment!!
I couldn't find the 'smoking areas ' at Malaga either ggg. I do wish they would at least put up a sign to inform passengers that there are 'no smoking areas beyond this point', then at least we would know!!
We passed through Malaga Airport on the 30th June and found that Malaga Airport has recently gone no-smoking, we traisped all over the place trying to find a designated area, we knew where they were because we have used them several times since the smoking ban came into force in Spain.
One of the areas was near gate 52/53 in the B section of the airport , there was another area in the lower tier of B section and a designated area on C level, I can't remember the exact number on level C, but it was in the area of gates 21/23/25.
The place where they should have been has had the glass cages removed and additional seating installed.
I asked a Spanish cleaner and she said "Terminado" and gestured with her hands to say finished, gone!
What a bummer because if I'd have known, after checking-in, I'd have gone back outside in the sunshine and had a smoke.

Does anyone know about birmingham airport for smokers?x
Where can I smoke at the Airport?
The terminal building is a smoke free zone. For those wishing to smoke there are designated covered areas outside the terminal building. There is also now an outside balcony smoking facilitiy at The Meriden Bar which is located within the Departure Lounge.
How very civilized. of Birmingjham I don't know why all airports can't do something similar.
The way for smokers to encourage this practice is to check in, send your hold luggage through and only go through security when you are ready, afetr having your smoke etc.
After the airlines catch on that they are delayed waiting for customers WHOSE LUGGAGE IS ALREADY ABOARD, they will pressure the airport to build smoking areas airside.
I do that at Stansted del. It can't be good for the Duty Free shops either, as so many of us are hanging around outside rather than browsing their over-priced stock

It's Gate 300 (downstairs waiting area for aircraft departing from remote stands), oposite gate 207 at Terminal 2. It's to the rear of the food court in the upstairs area in Terminal 1. There's no smoking area in Terminal 3. Details are on the Manchester Airport topic.

Well, I got the "3" right !
I say good on them....
Personally I'd ban smoking ANYWHERE in the airport grounds! Anything to cut down the wait for late passengers................
I'm off to Leeds/Bradford airport tomorrow & will have to put bags through etc then hang around landside again.
