I'm with you on this Sanji. As some people may have gathered I'm a non smoker but have spent most of my life in the company of, lived with, married to smokers. I have absolutely no probs with being in the direct company of any number of smokers. The only problem I do have is when someone smoking blows smoke directly in my face, or when walking behind a smoker when they turn their head to one side and blow smoke into the air for me to walk straight into. I'm not particularily keen with smoking at a restaurant table either. But thats just down to individual manners, and does not reflect on smokers in general. I would love to hear the outcry if the impossible happened and a British government, Spanish or European ban on alcohol was introduced. I do drink alcohol, and confess to having been more than a little tipsy on many occasions. I dont however fall down unconcious, throw up in bars or the street, or get aggressive and start booze induced arguments. However there is a minority who do, and always will behave like this. As a drinker should I be tarred with the same brush as them? I would hope not!. If i find this kind of behaviour going on in a particular area or venue, I would move on and find somewhere else more compatable with my ethos. Providing of course I manage to move on before being physically or verbally abused, vomitted on or spat at! I think we've all seen the type of behaviour that I am describing, yet despite this I dont think many of us would support an ban on alcohol sale or consumption. I dont recall in my life to date ever having witnessed smoke induced behaviour of that nature. Yet certain individuals seem to be rubbing there hands with glee at the thought of a smoking ban. The health issues concerning alcohol abuse are certainly as great as those involving tobacco use, yet we seem to employing double standards in the attitude displayed to these topics!. The point is we all have lifestyle choices, we should be allowed the freedom to make as many of these choices on an individual basis as possible.
Well thats got that off my chest!...Now will you please take that gun away from my head Senora Fumar!! (Joking of course these are my thoughts entirely.)!.
Obviously some had different ideas and it is now likely that discussion will just go round in circles with all the usual mixed opinions which such topics tend to attract from the pro and anti smoking lobbies. It's probably best to close the topic at this point as it is no longer relevant to a Costa Blanca holiday discussion forum. Please do not start any further similar discussions.
Many thanks
