Anyone got an idea what the law is?
Customers in my bar in the Algarve have told me that some bars are smoking, others are not; but there was a letter in a local English language paper this week saying it is banned in all public places, including in private cars!
Anyone really know what's going on?
What I have found is that the majority if not all of the hotels do not allow smoking in public areas .
However I stayed at the Dalmatas and people were smoking around the pool area.
As for the bars and resturants I did not notice any difference and people were smoking, ash trays being available.
Yes, a National smoking law came into force in Spain on 1st Jan 2006.
We have had many discussions about this issue, not only in this forum, but also throughout the site.
I will just pick up on one point.....
Yes, it is illegal to smoke, eat, drink or use your phone whilst driving in Spain now....
