Has anyone been to the above hotel recently? I would like to know what the food is like and are the bedrooms big? Also is the entertainment good. Many thanks.
my daughter and partner and a few others were there last year and she said the food was good and she is a really fussy eater but she ate there every night and day'the rooms are a fairly good size and clean and all you need in them she loved the rooftop sunbathing .there is always something going on in the hotel plenty to do .hope this helps
I stayed there last October, entertainment was really good, food good something for everyone! we had a room for 3,not that big,but very clean.would def stay there again.
For anyone that's been to the hotel previously: What are the AI drinks like in the bar? Any good? Watered down, or the real deal? I don't expect branded drinks to be included, just good quality locl stuff will be sufficient. Will still be drinking out in any case, but the better the lager & spirits are in hotel, the less we'll drink out.
Although there not branded drinks they still had a lot of choice, the larger was estrelle??not sure of spelling, didnt seem watered down to me,and they had there own version of baileys which was good!!and of course all spirits.I've been to a few other all inc and drinks have tasted like they've been watered down, and the spirits have'nt been that good, but didnt find that here!!
The hotel seemed more like a holiday camp to me instead of a hotel but I was there peak season. The food was average for a hotel in spain, plenty of choice, plenty for the kids, snacks in between meals, mid-night snacks so you won't go hungry.
The drinks are local poison, I can't drink the local spirits, they have me throwing during the night, and mean just one, I don't know what is in them but they don't agree with me, the local baileys wasn't bad but apart from that I drunk the beer.
I am off to a ultra A/I turkey this year where you get real MCcoy, 5* star luxury for the price of a 3* A/I in majorca.
Well Boots, if the baileys is as good as you say it is then it looks like i'm gonna be mixing that with the good Estrella! I sure hope they aren't watered down at all like you say. Really can't wait for this holiday now
Not sure when you went, cant think of a user name? the hotel has been refurbished, and i wasnt there peak season so i didnt find the pool small?and the food was really good.Rooms were small, but there were only 3 of us,I loved it but like i said it was out of season, the hotel was quite empty that can make a difference i guess. Crazygoog i hope you have a great time!!
I was there after the refurb and being made a flintstone hotel, bunk beds make the room feel smaller when it is very small already, the pool is small and in peak season the sunbathing area the pool they are packed in like sardines. I If you take the size of the pool and the amount of people staying in the hotel when its full, the pool and pool area are too small. Somebody there not in peak school hols and the hotel what is fairly empty it would be fine. I never said the food was bad but average food what you get in a 3*-4* hotel nothing speacial, gets a bit boring after a week.
The one thing that did annoy me was the snacks are in the main restaurant and at luch times people would come and sit on the chairs after being in the pool and the chairs are still wet during the evening meal, had a few wet bottoms.
Peak season does make a different and when I was there the hotel was completely full, the H/B mirlos was like a hotel but the A/I tordos was like a holiday camp, I don't know if the mirlos is A/I or still H/B
The entertainment is held outdoors at the tordos and its for both hotels so in peak season it can be a struggle to a table.
The hotel was clean and well run, didn't have any complaints to make during my stay.
not sure what happens at the mirlos,it was closed!! all guests were in the tordos,I wouldnt be too happy about sitting on damp chairs either, havent come across that before(Luckily!) well done for your turkey find!!! am off to the turkey forum too have a look now!!
Take a look on google earth and you can see where they are buliding the new pools and the shape and size of the pools, the pools still look small to me and the main pool looks next to the mirlos with a smaller pool at the tordos. If you click on the blue square at top left hand corner of the mirlos it shows the new pool, its good how they get the pool looking bigger than it really is in a photo, and there are 2 blue squares on the tordos of pictures of the mirlos pool in 1979 showing green shrub area before it was built up.
just got back from our second visit to the sol mirlos/tordos, we went for a weekend bed and breakfast, booked for the mirlos with the intention of up-grading to all-inclusive when we got there. this hotel is lovely, very modern, found the pools to be very clean, maybe could be a problem in the height of the summer due to the size, theres a childrens pool with flintstones theme, a quiet pool and another pool where music played and the games took part around here, we got there fri night but didnt up grade to all inclusive until sat morn, it cost us 28 euro each which we thought was quite reasonable. the tordos was closed while we were there. the entertainment team were great didnt pressure you too much to join in the games during the day. the food was lovely, plenty of choice, my only negative was that the snacks are just put out in the restaurant without somebody cooking it fresh for you, but never the less i still ate it!! The all-inclusive was valid until the time you leave the hotel(a lot of hotels the all inclusive finishes at the time you are supposed to vacate your room(either 10am or 12)
I was there 2 summers ago, in the mirlos side, and the refurbishment was done beacuse of a fire in the hotel. It was just the lower floor bar/reception area, but there was still a smokey smell through the non refurbished areas.
Anyone visited recently with any advice?
BEWARE: Watch the kids clubs. I would never go there again. The left my 4 year old son on his own at the stage 1/2 hour before the end of the session to find him wandering sobbing and terrified as they kids rep left them when there was 3 kids. We were at the HB part of the hotel and the kids club is on the lively AI side as he we terrified and it goes beyond belief he was left. There is a gate right beside the stage area and he could have easily wandered out into road and away or worse taken.Thats why I always go Thomsons no at least they are signed in and out.
