It sounds like they were doing traditional Turkish dancing. Although it comes in many forms. Traditional Turkish dancing does tend to invole a lot of jumping around, it wears you out I can tell you.
As to the music, well really it could have been anything. Although there are certain songs that they dance to for one reason or another.
It think it was all instrumental, i think with a trumpet or saxophone
It went something like do-do-do....do-do-dooorooo Sorry its the best way i can explain it lol
Had a good laugh at all your do do do's ....... then I read it out to my two daughters (one called Lauren too ) who are Turkey fanatics. Would you believe it they said they knew what it was then went into fits of laughter at your description (they said it was good). Dug out one of the many Club CD's they have bought over the years and apparently the name of the song is 'Ottoman Song'. They let me listen to it and after the sort of cymbally/drummy bit at the beginning it gets into your do do do's to a T.

Was the best i could describe it
Emm do you know the name of the artist, i can't seem to find the song ?
Can remember sitting in Seda last year at breakfast listening to what yogi was going to do couldn't believe what i was hearing but what a fun way to start the day Sorry for all of you with dirty minds i meant listening to!!!! Just reread what i had written then thought could be misinterpreted
Starts off doom-doom-doom goes higher and then it goes into follow the leader with Turkish parts to it.
Sorry, checked their CD again and it only gives the song title not the artist. Bear with me though I'll try and find out for you through some Turkish friends.

Again, thanks alot wilson
Hot off the press !
Just spoke via Hotmail to my friend in Marmaris. He says the Ottoman Song is played by the Istanbul Philamonic Society Band, apparently played when Ottoman (not sure who he was) went into battle. Having heard the beginning it sounds a good tune to go into battle with eh!
