We leave on Jan 24th for Cape Town with Turkish Airlines from Antalya via Istanbul.Have found what appears to be a great hotel for the first three nights so will post a review on our return.Next we take The Blue Train from Cape Town to Pretoria. My wifes dream.Maybe the Mods could suggest where I post a review on the train. We then stay in Pretoria for one or two nights, not quite decided yet. Then we take a train ( not the blue train alas, too expensive both ways ) back to Cape Town.We stay in our original hotel for two nights, then hire a car and go up the west coast of South Africa towards Namabia. Then back to the original hotel for three nights and then back to Antalya. We have both been before but went down the Garden Route then, so looking forward to the new scenery.

I'll be interested in reading your trip report on your return. I've been trying to persuade my OH to go to SA with me without any luck, so it looks like I will be going on my own. Friends took the Rovos Rail train from Pretoria to Cape Town a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Hope you have a great trip.

On our 9 month trip around the world Namibia was my Wife's favourite country visited and my second (close behind New Zealand).
Sounds like a good trip though. Cape Town was our first port of call on our trip and although there is definitely an edginess to the city, it is an absolutely stunning location.
Spoke to a few folks who had been to Namibia first- sounds like something I might just get round to doing sometime.
