Well, I posted this on my return but is never appeared, so here we go again.
My wife and I travelled from Antalya Turkey ( where we live ) to Istanbul and caught Turkish Airlines to Cape Town via Jo'berg.Left Jan.24 and arrived back Feb.9. Great travel with Turkish, they are so good.Stayed in Cape Town at An African Villa. 'See Hotel report' for two nights and then took the Blue Train to Pretoria. What a super trip, very expensive and you only do it once.Took taxi to Jo'berg airport and Southern Sun airport hotel for the night and flew back to Cape Town the following morning with SAA.Back to 'African Villa' for one night and then our friends came and collected us and we stayed with them at there house in Scarborough about 40k. from Cape town.Left after three nights and went up the garden route in a hire car. Fifteen Pounds a day and unlimited mileage.Stayed at numerous hotels on the way up up and back down. All were superb and very cheap.Excellent value in all and excellent quality rooms and all with sea view.Typical hotel meals cost about 10-00 GBP's and very good wine about 3-00 GBP's. per bottle.Went as far as Plettenburg Bay, visiting the Monkey and Cat reserves.Travelled back from there staying at Mossel Bay and Gordons Bay and arrived back in Cape Town.Back to ' An African Villa ' for two nights and then back to Istanbul and Antalya.Cape Town and the Garden Route are great but we never went out of our hotel in Jo'burg.South Africa is a super place to visit but make sure that you go in there summer. November to March.

I thought I had replied to your post too Not sure what went wrong.
We almost booked An African Villa but have gone with an apartment. We go on the 3rd April. We have 8 days in CT and are just working out what all to book. We are thinking of the Winelands. Wish we had longer but will have to make the most of it Any recommendations for where to eat in Cape Town?
If you like fish dont miss eating at the Ocean Basket. Its a chain of fish restaurants but very good. Do try the Mozambique Prawns (langoustines).. ...If you have a car go to Clifton No 4 beach, where you can park safely and try La Med restaurant, very reasonable but has fabulous views of the 12 Apostles mountains and the Atlantic Ocean....Many other places as well...fabulous place...I`m envious.Have a great time..
Can't advise on anywhere special to eat apart from the V&A Waterfront area.Lots of great places all around there.Hire a car though as many places to see on the outskirts of C. T. We had a new corsa that cost us 15 GBP's per day and petrol is cheap.Cape Point is well worth a visit, not only for the scenery but also the Baboons. Don't leave anything outside the car as they will take it.They don't bother humans but will drink your beer and eat your food.Have a great holiday.
