We were here, but then that's not unusual. I have been in Benidorm more days than England so far this year.

The atmosphere was very good when they won, BUT the Spanish can go overboard a bit with the celebrations and I think the last fireworks I heard were at 5 am. The gym we go to was totally empty for the first two hours, so that was good. I'm really pleased they won, but I'm glad I didn't have to get up for work this morning.

A friend of mine put the phone down on me because I called her when the arrival if the team in Madrid was on the TV. I don't mind about that, but they do tend to take these things a bit seriously. ;)

I wish I'd been anywhere in Spain last night, but if I'd been in Benidorm, then I would have been up in the old town.
Apparantly Valencia ground to a halt and was totally grid locked with people trying to get into the city to watch the match, many abandoning their cars on the outskirts of the city and walking........when they won, thousands more tried to get into the city to join the celebrations.......and I think some of them are still partying.
I've been looking at photo's in a Spanish paper and I think there were more people in the fountains in Valencia, than there was water.

But, you know I can't blame them for celebrating, it's 1964 since they won a major title and I've read an excellent article today in the "Times" newspaper, where the journalists point out that from Corunna to Cartagena or the Pyrenees to the Sierra Nevada, last night united a nation all supporting Spain.

I was in Spain the week before and the atmosphere in the bars was electric, although I did talk to a few Spaniards who had doubts that they could go all the way and win it.
When they were up against Italy, I was on the plane coming home and for the first time in my life I wish they'd allowed mobile phones because I had to wait until we landed at EMA to find out the score, but my lad had recorded the match for me to watch. :tup
I was like a woman demented last night, screaming at the TV when a dirty tackle came in, and I was thinking "please god don't let the Germans score in the last minute and make it go to extra-time and then penalties"...it's such a cruel ending when that happens.

I'm in love with Sergio Ramos :rofl he made one mistake that could have cost Spain dearly if the Germans had been off the mark quicker, otherwise that boy is a pleasure to watch when he has the ball and goes forward, he is a natural.

I take my Spanish football seriously  I'm pleased for them (as a nation) and wish I'd booked my holidays 2 weeks later, I wouldn't have been in Benidorm, but I'd have been in Spain and that would have been enough.

Hi,

Friends of ours were out there all last week, they were due to fly home on sunday, but when Spain got into the final they changed their flights to come home yesterday (monday). It cost them to change, but they said it was worth every penny to watch it & join in the celebtations.

Really glad they won, my son supports ar senal (Ever known a geordie ar senal supporter :D ?)and his favourite player is Fabregas, so he was rooting fo Spain, we had to watch it. He said to me when they won, "I wish we'd have been in Benidorm mam, I bet they wouldn't be going to bed now and I'd be able to stay up late too." Bless him, well it was a school night.

Myself an my daughter have just come back from a week's stay in Benidorm..so we experienced the semi final win on the Thursday and also the final on Sunday! Now, I am not a footie fan, but we persevered when they set up a big screen in the lounge for the final. Daughter even wanted one of the cheap Espana football tops which all the shops were selling! And all I can say, is HOLY CHRIST! I have never heard so much noise in my whole life when the final whistle blew! It was AMAZING! Cheering, airhorns, fireworks, bangers.....EVERY car out on the roads started hooting their horns! It blew us away! And yes, it did go on till the wee small hours, but it was only to be expected. They were happy noises, everyone was happy and celebrating so we didnt mind the odd firework exploding in the middle of the night! It could of been a whole lot worse to be honest. Really made for some good memories for myself and my daughter!

Hey don't think I was dissing them in any way. I thought it was awesome. I have several Spanish friends and I was very happy for them. I'm just too old now to party all night, and that kind of pees me off.

Thanks for that, I do try my best! It really was something to remember though, my daughter has been running around telling everyone about it! And her Espana tshirt we bought for 3.95 euros is now her most prized possession! :D

Tartanscone, I seriously doubt the scottish will ever prevail in any sporting event. Lets look at Andy Murray for example! I guess all british tennis players are doomed tho :s Oh well! x
