Just wondering if the Orchard still exists. We went there a good few years back and had a fantastic dish (that doesn't seem to exist in many other places) called Stamna.
The Orchard is/was up past the Canal D'Amour on the edge of Sidari (over the bridge and follow the road about 1/2 a mile up) The place was full of different trees (orange, lemon etc) and was run buy a local bloke and his English wife..
We had Stamna again yesterday (he wouldn't give us the recipe I had to work it out when I got home so it took a little trial and error)
in case you wondered.. lovely rich beef with potato and carrots, cooked for a good long time so its so tender it almost melts....
Yes the Orchard is still there we had a fantastic meal there last summer. The bad news is we didnt discover it until the last day of our holidays

oops, never mind gives you an excuse to go back..
We are just back from Corfu and didn't see Stamna in any Taverna, my wife loves this dish, I'm more a Kleftiko person myself.
Why am I feeling hungary now
Graham
no its not a secret thing.. I loved it so much that I thought everyone should have the chance of remaking it when they got home. When I got back I searched and searched I even emailed several cafe and resturants to see if they had the recipe and got zip...
I'd love to see a pic if you make it :-)
Oh and you have Stifado as well, nice one Cy
Will make these and let you have a picture, if I can sus out the technical stuff
take the pics we can sus the techy stuff later.. :lol
Graham have you tried the recipe yet ?
Hi Cy
excellent..
There is a lot of nervous laughter for some reason, especially when you meet the local farmer on his tractor / minibus
For those that haven't seen the videos click on AskCy's picture above and follow the link, they are well worth watching
Sorry moderator for going slightly of topic
Yes and the video doesn't do it justice.. we were skidding into the back of the tractor and it seemed like we weren't going to stop in time... On the video it appears so far away and obvious.. but in reality we were bombing along the "road" when the tractor came piling out of the "field" and straight infront of us...(and if you listen to our driver.. he mean't what he said...)
