Hi everyone
We are travelling to Vergt next August and would prefer to break up the drive by having an overnight stop somewhere.
Can someone recommend the best place to stop en route please?
I would also appreciate any recommendations of cheap accommodation for an overnight stop.
Many thanks
Le Grand Hotel
9 Place Du General Leclerc,
TOURS.
We regularly stay here for a break on the journey between Calais and Dordogne. It is so easy to get to as it is immediately outside the railway station and has underground parking immediately opposite which is manned all night. Sundays there is a HUGE all day market in the streets around the center.
We always break up our drives at cheap hotels. This year we got some good deals on IBIS hotels, With one of their options they were coming out at E35 per night for a double room. The booking however was totally inflexible, as you could not cancel or change it once booked. The normal price was E65! However although the website said you couldn't change the booking I actually made a mistake with the date on one and phoned the hotel direct, they changed it at no charge. If we can't get the IBIS deals then we use ETAP hotels. Breakfast is usually 6 to 8 Euros per person extra.
Thank you both for your help.
