Disabled Person Holiday Discussions

Are you disabled or know someone who is? What are your experiences of hotels and resorts as a disabled person?

sorry, I havn`t been on for a while and only just saw your posting. I suggest you have a look at Playa Blanca, Lanzarote. I was there last November. We stayed at the Lanzarote Princess which is fully wheelchair accessible. Although there are not too many dropped kerbs you can get used to finding the crossings which have them. The shopping area is pedestrianised. The beach near our hotel has a gentle slope down. May should be lovely. Check out the Lanzarote forum for weather details. The Lanzarote Princess is in the Thomson brochure and can be pricy but we booked it independently flying with jet2 and booked the hotel direct with Hotel Connect and it came out at half the brochure price. We are going back again this year.

On the way back from Turkey last October I sat next to a lady wheelchair user and she had been staying at the Sunrise hotel in Marmaris. It is on the beach midway between Marmaris and Icmeler. She said it was excellent and very wheelchair friendly. The surrounding area is very flat and there were loads of resturants and bars nearby. It features in several tour operators brochures.
