Hi Loobie

We were in Tunisia last August :hot there were 4 of us and we are all well seasoned travelers having been to many hot climates including Egypt, Mexico, the Caribbean etc however we all found that it was just far to hot in August in Tunisia, the daytime temperatures were up in the high 30's and low 40's every day.

Down on the beach there was a very slight breeze that was welcome however it was still very hot and a parasol was a must. Walking barefooted on the sand was very painful on your feet due to the heat and is something you would have to careful of with your children.

The evening temperatures were still up in the high 20's and this made going out for a meal or stroll uncomfortable so we ended up taking a taxi all the time from our hotel in to the main area.

I would recommend Tunisia to anybody however, I do think that in July and August it might just be too hot particularly for your 2 children.

hi loobiej
i went to tunisia in aug 06 and it is hot but not uncomfortable we had 3 kids with us 15, 13 and 9 at the time and they never complained about being to hot ,that said i didn't like tunisia or the hotel we stayed at and wouldn't visit again, but each to their own.

Hi Loobiej,
I would have to agree with Kiltman on this one.
We returned from Port El Kantaoui on Monday 9th.
Although we had fantastic weather into the high 70s maybe low 80s and was hot.
The staff say " this is not hot, come back in July, August" the temp can reach 40c -108f.
I have not been to Tunisia at this time of the year, so I'll take their word for it.

July and August are too hot for me as well and you may be better to postpone Tunisia until you aren't restricted to the school summer holidays. Half term in Spring or Autumn can be lovely so you could perhaps try a taster week then. My first visit many years ago was in the February half term and the weather was lovely, though it can't be guaranteed at that time of year.
