Hi
We have just came back from Lanzarote. We stayed at this hotel from 9th jan to 23rd Jan. We were all inclusive.
Loved it. We have four children aged 16, 15 11 and 10. They had a brilliant time.
I would recommend it highly. It is spotlessly clean. we didn't see one cockroach in the two weeks we were there.
All pools are seawater (according to the brochure I have) but as I didn't taste it, I cant be sure. The main one defitnetely is and is also very cold. But some people did go in it. My two youngest loved it. The four other pools were meant to be acclimatised but to what who knows! The last two days we were there the four smaller pools defitnetely got warmer. There is also a smaller round shallow pool for the little ones that was lovely and warm.
We stayed in the Kiwi block, which over looked one of the pools.
We had no problem with the food what so ever. There was so much to choose from. There is even a childrens buffet, which often had chips, fish fingers etc. So the kids had a choice from the main buffet or the kids buffet. My kids never once complained about the food. Salad is available at every meal, including breakfast.
The beach is a 10-15 minute walk from the hotel, via the back gate. Or there is an hourly courtesy bus from the hotel, if you dont fancy the walk.
The reps are fantastic.
Wavelength operates all year round, and is great for the kids. i pulled my children out of school for the two weeks (the first time ever). It is surprising how many kids were there, and how well behaved they all were.
The pictures in the brochures are exactly what you get.
Some of the wavelength stuff does cost you a little extra, like a chocolate party my children went to in the evening. I think it cost one and a half euros (cant find a euro sign on my keyboard).
The second day we were there all my kids done "pirate adventure" with wavelength that was 15 euros each, for four hours but that does include the high ropes and all that is included with that, plus canoeing after. They also got a free photo. But mostly wavelength is free. I spoke to a rep about wavelength as the age is only up to 15. But my boy is 16, and i thought he may like to do some of those things. so the rep just told me to put down he was 15 on the registration forms. Wavelength also has its own room which has a pool table in it.
For use of the gym you have to be over 18 and get the key from reception., although my 16 year old got the key, (they didnt know his age and he has his own weights at home, so I wasnt worried about him hurting himself). The sauna is situated next to the gym. Both can be found next to the mini supermarket, in the "food Centre" downstairs. Also near the supermarket is the laundry room. There are two washing machines and two tumble dryers. I am not sure about the tumble dryers as I didnt use them (you have an airer on your balcony). But the washing machines you get a token from reception, which costs you four euros each. the drums on the machines are big and can probs take one and a half normal load. They take just 25 miutes for a normal wash. (while we were there one of the washing machines had broken down on day two and was still not fixed when we left). But not many people seemed to use them. I never had a problem in waiting for the machine.
Like it has been said before, it does get very slippery around the pool area, i saw quite a lot of children runnind around the pool then slipping. So please be very careful.
If you wish to hire an ironing board and iron, you do this through the reps, it costs 12 euros per week. You get it the next day, as they hire from an outside company.
To hire the safe, this is in your wardrobe in your room, it sosts 15euros per week. (massive wardrobe which is completely mirrored).
Evening entertainment is in the Dome. It starts about 8 with a "mini Disco" for the kids. (my kids were not that keen on this, more for the younger ones). Then there is a quick game of Bingo at 8.45. (6 cards cost 12 euros) Just one game with a line and then a full house. then a quick adults game, where they ask for a certain amount of adults to go on stage. most games are hilarious. Then about 9.30 there is a family show. Sometimes it is a show the reps put on (grease and the wizard of oz) and other times they get in acts. There is a parrot show, which is really good, and the kids can have their pics taken with the parrots for 10 euros. A snake show, again the kids can have their pics taken with the snake for 10 euros. There is a magic show, There is an act called "jimp jump" which looked like it was going to be pretty boring, until you realise the guy is double jointed and the things that guy can do is hilarious. the kids love the shows as do most adults.
On the whole it was an excellent holiday, for all 6 of us and after 2 weeks none of us wanted to come home.
I would recommend this hotel highly. If I could ever afford to go again, it would be the same hotel.
My 16 year old met lad of his age, and we didnt really see him for the last week, it was like they was glued together, constantly playing football in on the pitch or volley ball, in the pools etc.
the only thing is if you want to go out of playa blanca for the day to another town, and need to get a bus. they are not to regular, an hourly service, sometimes two hours. the bus stop is only a 5 minute walk away. But because they are not that regular there is normally a huge queue half an hour before the bus is already due. So people at the end of the queue are unable to get the bus as it is full. We found the bus stop that it gets to first, it is about another 10 minute walk. (down by the harbour, near "Roof tops"). But you are guarenteed a seat. So if you can, hire a car, it is really cheap. We didnt take our driving licences with us, as we didnt intend to drive, but wished we did.
Taxis are easily found and from what we heard were pretty cheap. But bacause there were 6 of us it meant two taxis each time and would work out pretty expensive.
We wanted to go to Papagayo beach for the day. (well worth the visit). We found a "taxi boat" at the harbour, which was a glass bottom boat. It takes about 10-15 minutes to get to Papagayo. You can stay on the boat or get off at the beach and the boat came back at 2.15 and 4.15 and you could go back on which ever you wished. That cost us 77 euros for two children and four adults return, which i thought was great.
If you are going out for the day and are all inclusive, if you order a packed lunch the night before. you can collect it from reception in the morning. The packed lunch at the moment consists of a cheese and Ham sandwich (which I have to say is very dry as it has no butter of marg in it), about three bits of fruit, some cakes and a drink. If we went on an excursion which included lunch, we still ordered the packed lunch, so we could keep the fruit , cakes and drink in our fridge, in case you fancied it at anytime.
Hope this info helps.
Love Sue xx
