The Wikipedia on-line encyclopedia has a rather alarming entry on Sunny Beach. It mentions a summer of crime - murder, beatings & rapes. It has been dubbed 'bloody beach' & some travel agents are refunding holidaymakers now too scared to go.
This kind of thing happens everywhere I know but if I were going there I'd take extra care.
THIS is the page that I have just edited to say that this does not appear to be the experience of UK tourists, and that due to the high cost of alcohol in the Scandinavian countries, tourists from there are notorious for drunkenness and disorderly behaviour in countries where drink is cheap.
I don't see any feedback about such problems on this Forum or another one dedicated to Bulgaria, and I don't believe everything I read in newspapers or books for that matter.
My experience of Bulgaria is that it is much safer in their resorts than the equivalents in many parts of the world including the UK.
