Hello Loobs40,
Got back from Cap Salou last night. We too were self catering and found Supermarkets all over the place.... Most of the hotels have their own, but there is a good on actually in Cap Salou village called Mar Y Mar (it's near where all the pubs etc are). Cheap enough and stocks just about everything you'll need.
(good place to eat we found was The Paddock).
Hope that helps,
Helen

Hi Mary

What apartments did you stay in at Cap Salou? We are heading there on the 8th July, and have heard it can be quite quiet. Are the bars and restuarants close to all the apartments ( with in staggering distance home ) We are going with our two teenagers and I am sure they will be heading into Salou most nights, but we are looking forward to a quieter holiday

Thanks MaryJ :-)

Is La Pineda easy to walk to ? I get the impression from reading this and other forums that the restaurants and bars are a bit more upmarket than Salou so I was planning to to walk there some nights to eat and drink.

Is it also possible to walk to Salou and La Pineda via the beaches ?

Hi,
we didn't walk to either because we had a 4year old with us and no pushchair... BUT .. we were on and off the buses all the time. From Cap Salou it cost 1.30 euros to either Salou or La Pineda (both a 10 minute 'bus-slalom' away), and there were buses every 5 minutes....
I beleive there is a beach walk to Salou, but not to La Pineda - but in the heat of last week i would have chosen the bus any day!!!

As for the Bars and Restaurants, I prefered Salou to La Pineda - there was more open in Salou; parts of La Pineda were still closed!
We prefered the more traditional Spanish restaurants etc to the 'English' places, and there were far more of them in Salou than La Pineda. But don't rule out Cap Salou, it's a lovely 'sea-sidey' village and smells wonderfully of pine... and there are places there to eat too.

Thanks for that info

I would prefer to eat Spanish food as would my partner, but I guess four fairly fussy children will insist otherwise :-( Still its good to know its not all 'English' food

To be honest, even the most 'spanish' places have a Children's menu to cater for Brit Kids! My youngest loved their enormous hot dogs on full bagettes.. (about 3 euros!!!!).

Hi alan,
I have been to the travel agents today actually to find out the prices of the theme/water park and it is definitely worth getting the 14 day pass. We will probably go there a lot so I think thats what were going to opt for.

Sorry I have more questions. Did you visit Barcelona? Me and my family wanted to go there to see the Nou Camp stadium, is it worth going? Also, I love shopping, are the shops good?
