Ypu should go on ther all day trip cattamaran and dolphins that includes a bus to the marina, cruise on the cat free bar plus one or two stops for snorkelling you are then transfered from the cat to the dolphinarium in a large speedboat, swim with the dolphins and lunch in the restaurant. you only pay extra for being towed by the dolphins or being leg lifted by them. Its then back to the cat and cruise back to the marina well worth the money (cant remember how much we paid)
The speedboats are another good trip its only half a day they take you to a different marina and you self drive the boats (2 per boat) great fun and again value for money. There are some pictures of the are via my website unfortunately not the dolphins and speedboats.

Also, is there anything else apart from dolphins there? I went to Ocean World in the Dominican Republic a few months ago and it was amazing. I swam with Dolphins, Sharks and Stingray. Would love to do all of this again in Cuba.
Thanks xx
I found this on the web but the English version was not available
we have just returned from Cuba, we stayed in Cayo coco. The dolphin excursion available to us from there with first choice was as follows.
Leave hotel at 8am, Travel by coach to Trinidad, this takes about 3 hrs including one refreshment stop. Guided tour of Trinidad and some shopping time, then to cienfuegos for another tour and more shopping, onto hotel on caribbean coast, lunch (at about 3pm!) then the rest of the afternoon is yours to relaxe. Next morning breakfast at hotel (this hotel is all inclusive) before heading over to the dolphin centre, this takes about 45mins. The morning is spent watching a show with the dolphins and then swimming with them. We thought the dolphins were kept in a good environment in sea pens in a bay, they had loads of swimming space and they had a baby dolphin born there just the month before and it was wonderful watching it swimming around with its mother. On the return journey you pass through santa clara and stop at the che guevara memorial. Then you head back to the hotel which again takes about three hours with a stop on the way for refreshments. Arriving back in cayo coco about 7pm. The whole trip is all inclusive, only drinks at the refreshment stop and the dolphin centre were not included. You can also buy large photos of yourselves swimming with the dolphins for 10pesos each.
The cost of this trip from cayo coco with first choice was 169 pesos for adults and 139 pesos for children, well worth every penny.
hi,,
pingu, suggest you read page one of this topic
Each resort in Cuba uses a different Dolphinarium, there is one in Varadero near the Brisas del Caribe, Cayo Coco uses one on the mainland, Santiago I think and there is one in Guardalavaca out in a bay which you get to by boat from the marina. I have been to the one in Guardalavaca which also does a funny sea lion show but there are no other animals, their aquarium feature is not yet operational.
Just wondering if anyone knows of a swim excursion in Cuba where you don't have to tread water. I've seen pictures and had friend's do a dolphin swim where they just walked into the water and did not have to tread any water. Was just wondering if such a style like that was in Cuba.
All the dophin experiences I've seen in Cuba (Holguin & Varadero) are located in sea pens rather than artificial pools so they are deeper and therefore you need to tread water. This is far better for the dophins as its a semi-natural environment for them rather than artificial. Even though you tread water, you have a buoyancy aid on so its not a problem. When you say tread water, you don't actually have to since the buoyancy aid does all the work for you, you just bob around. Give it a go, I'm sure you'll love it. Have a look at my photo's on the previous page.

Dazbo5 is right I can barely swim at all and am not at all confident in water. I was very worried about how I would manage in the dolphin pen, but it was fine. You do just literally bob about with the bouyancy aid on and you'll be so charmed by the dolphins you won't have time to worry about whether you'll float or not. Go for it and have great time!
haha just seen its my post that started this conversation 2 years ago - really strange!! im scared of the sea and don't really like being in deep water unless its a swimming pool, but i felt absolutely fine swimming with the dolphins in cuba - didn't feel like i was in the sea really and it definately doesn't feel like you're treading water because your life jacket just keeps you up! it's so much fun - definately pay extra to do the lift xxx
