Can anyone help.
We are organising a school ski trip to Switzerland. One of the students going is a Jehovah's Witness. The parents have specified (as normal) that in the event of the child needing medical treatment that no blood transfusions or blood products can be used. What we can't find out is how the Swiss medics handle this. We know that in the UK if a child is so ill that a blood transfusion is required the doctors can over rule the parents' wishes and treat with blood. If necessary they can get a court order although this is not always required.
We have tried contacting the Swiss Embassy in London but they are not answering their phones!
Once we know how the Swiss would handle this then the parents can decide on whether they wish their child to go on the trip or not.
