Wow RDV, you are the man. Im going to both these islands next month, and to be honest I dont really know alot about either. Mericas seems to be the main place on Syros? Is this correct and whats it like? Also, any must sees on Tinos? Dont forget, I have the two kids so walking isnt that much of an option at the moment (short walks are fine). Thanks.
from an earlier post I see you are staying in Kini on Syros. Its ideal for young children as the beach is sandy and the water stays shallow a long way out, pretty much like all the beaches on this island. There's about 5 tavernas and we used a good mini-market called Tony's. We were in the next resort south, Galissas. We were in the Dolphin Bay which has a huge pool and providing you use the poolbar the kids would love it.Also a great beach here. A good bus service connects all the island resorts regularly. The next beach north is Delphin Bay, very unspoilt and 1 good taverna. This is the most northerly beach accessable by car but in July and August a boat from Kini runs trips to 3 beaches further north. On Tinos we stayed in the Akti Aegeou apts. in Agios Ioannis the area is also known as Porto. Brilliant apts. on the beach with a good pool. Very friendly owners speak good English and taverna on site, would reccommend 100%. Ferry connections between Mykonos, Tinos & Syros are very good on the Blue Star Ithaki. Dont bother with the high speed, its twice the price.
