celcat ...we booked our own flights and we booked our own hotel in Amritser and are just now sorting out booking a hotel in Agra ..so we will only need Namaste to book us a hotel in Delhi and do the driving to agra and in and around Delhi ..Namaste have told us to get back to them in June they cant do anything for us until then ..colleen
Gramps we saved a fortune doing last years trip to Mumbai and the year befores trip to the taj mahal when we booked it by our selves we got 6 days 5 nights in Delhi for £200 each Daytrippers were looking almost £700 each for less days and their hotels were not as good as the ones we booked doing it DIY so it goes to show how much they make on the trips ....we have been on a few trips with Eddie and Daytrippers and are always more than happy but I have to say if you can do it yourself you do save an awful lot of money......colleen
Certainly six days, five nights in Delhi, if it included Goa- Delhi-Goa flights, for £200 each sounds good to me. However in the last fifty years of visiting India, I've had more than my fair share of incidents, so when I find a proven company that suits, I tend to stick with it, and I'm afraid that when it comes to long trips about the Sub Continent, we dont put price alone at the first priority, this could well be a reflection of our advancing years, what would have been looked on as an adventure when much younger, is looked on somewhat differently nowadays. Thanks IC. Namaste said the same to me as well so I will look into DIY but have a feeling that I'll get hammered by the single supplement BUT unless I try I won't know!
We would prefer not to DIY but would prefer to use Daytripper and have it all organised for us. I see from their website that they do a Taj Mahal tour with an add on to Amristar.
Can anyone tell me how long before we go to Goa I would have to book the trip with Daytripper.
Eddie who runs Daytripper usually leaves Goa Mid April and returns early October, if you contact him a few weeks before your planned trip you should be fine. I've done both the Taj and the Golden Temple with Eddie and both were first rate. The Golden Temple, especially , needs a really good reliable guide and the one Eddie uses is top notch. The temple is a trip of a lifetime and in our opinion streets ahead of the Taj. Alan
I had started to get really brave and was going to book the flights and accommodation myself to do the Taj Mahal tour.
Then the OH decided that we should do the Golden Temple as well.
I admire anyone who does their homework and organises it all themselves, I wish I had the confidence to do it and save a few quid. I knew that if I'd got to organise the Taj Mahal and then the Golden Temple as well with a hotel in Amrister,
I'd spend the first week of my holiday stressing that the next week was all going to go as planned.
I know it's more expensive with Daytripper but it's worth the extra to me to have all the organising done for me, and less stressful and as everyone speaks very highly of Eddie and Daytrippers I thought that was the best route to take.
