Cutting a long story short, due to a relationship breakdown I am heading to Lanzarote with my daughter in a couple of weeks on a Thomson flight, as none of her friends can get leave from work at short notice and she didn't want to lose the holiday she saved hard for.
Are you able to take food bought/made outside the airport, through security or would you have to buy it airside (things like sandwiches, salads, pastries etc)?
You can take your food through yes. I take mine through then buy a drink once through security. Or you can get a meal deal from Boots, Smith's etc.
Thanks for the speedy reply. We don't fly from Newcastle until late afternoon, so might have to call at good old M & S on the way to the airport.

As Glynis mentions there are both a Boots and a WHSmith after security where you can buy a full meal deal should you wish.
Check the airport website for a full list of shops, restaurants, bars etc both before and after security http://www.newcastleairport.com/at-the-airport

We often fly from Newcastle as it's one of our local airports, both Boots & Smith's aren't that large so the only small issue maybe choice of sandwiches not being available especially if you have a later flight. There's a McDonalds airside.
