Hi I'm new on here, hope I'm doing it right!!

We have booked for these apartment with Portland 31st July for 2 weeks and we thought they were 4 star apartments as stated in the brochure. Why has the star rating been reduced any idea? They sound great though no bad reports. Booked it after reading good reports on here. Its our 1st visit to Cyprus and really looking forward to it. Going with our 2 teens, son 18 daughter 15, and thought these apartments seem in a good position, near the action but far enough out for us oldies a bit of peace!!!

hi if you read the brocher it says tour operators own rating. they usualy upgrade acomodation (i'me synical and thick its to con a higher price) they will say they take into consideration things such as Kids clubs number of swimming pools entertainment etc. the official grade is based on the the room size,public areas and the like. this year the CTO are inspecting and updating their grading on all accomodation some have lost a point or two and some will be forceably closed at the end of this season,this is to try and bring the official grades in line with the rest of the med..and also remember your T.O. made his decision last year as to what grade he will give

the Tasia gardens is a tourest block owned by and close to the Tasia hotel which holds an official 3 star rating

hope this qualifies your enquiry and i know i'ts s**** but we got caught the same way on our second holiday abroad ever since i have always researched prior to booking.

well i think they look and sound fab,i went to cyprus last year for the first time and we all fell in love with it.We thought the standard of cleaniness was high.

Must say I am suprised at the ratings being downgraded to 2/3 star on this accomodation.I think it looks great unless I was in the wrong place but I don't think so.

We spend a lot of time at Sandy Bay the beach in front of the apartments it is never 5 mins to the beach its practically on the beach, I had a look in last year when we were down at the beach and I thought everything looked quite impressive, we watched it being built and decided if we were ever going to go by a package deal again we would definatley go there.
A good location , sitting on an excellent beach, you can walk into Ayia Napa harbour along the coastal road but its a fair walk, you can also walk to the centre again a fair walk, but the buses run along the road in front of the hotel.

Plenty of eating places around and plenty of shops so no need to go into the centre unless you want the night life.

Ive heard good reviews about this hotel, but was wondering if anyone had been there recently??!!

Hi you can read reviews on this hotel in the Hotel reviews section, I have been to this hotel 7 times and will be back this year.Its a Thomson Gold,has a really nice pool area and Sandy bay beach just across a service road.Very clean, small rooms but who goes to Cyprus to be in the room all day. We enjoy it I hope you do.

Hi I have not actually stayed in this hotel but have had a drink there and its seems lovely, it is in a great location with its proximity to the beach and outisde napa away from the nightly hustle and bustle you will find great reviews of the tasia maris on holidaysuncovered.co.uk

thanks very much for your help. Im even more excited now than i was before. i really cant wait to get there and soak up the sun for 2 weeks!!

My husband and I both in our fifties and are thinking of booking this hotel for our holiday next September. We have had several Thomson Gold holidays and enjoyed them all but I am slightly concerned that Thomson do not rate this a 4 star property. Our previous Cyprus holidays have been to Paphos but we want a change, are we too old for Ayia Napa/Nissi Beach. We are still young at heart!! Any comments on the hotel or area would be most welcome.

The area is OK, nice beaches, haven't used that hotel so I can't comment.
If you are concerned look for somewhere in Protaras/Pernera on the East coast, they are only a short distance from Ayia Napa/Nissi Beach.

You most certainly are not too old for Ayia Napa. We visited while we were

over at the begining of September this year and there was plenty of older people

there. So if you see a hotel you fancy go for it!!! I'm sure you'll have a great

time

You are definitely not too old for ayia napa, my parents had been holidaying in napa for 30 years and they bought a villa there in 2000. They are now 70 and live there from may - october every year and love it
