One thing to remember about Agia Napa....

Long before the 18-30's set claimed Napa as their own it was a haven for older Brits to purchase property in, in fact it is still very welcoming and suitable for all ages.

Also long after Napa loses it's appeal for the 18-30's...and believe me, Napa is no longer anywhere near Number One destination for Brit clubbers, then you will still see the more mature set enjoying this lovely Cypriot town.

Many thanks for the feedback I feel more confident about going to this part of Cyprus now. I just didn't want to stick out like the proverbial sore thumb!!!! :)

Not in a million years could you possibly stick out like a sore thumb, as you probaby know from previous posts my parents are both 70 and live in Napa in the summer months

It's a beautiful hotel, you'll not be out of place, food is fab, entertainment is just as good as any other gold hotel!

We actually thought the hotel was better than 3*, when we mentioned it to one of the staff we were told that the hotel prefer to keep the 3*Plus rating so that people get more than they expect when they arrive if that makes sense!

It's a great resort!

Hi just come back from our 8th visit to the Tasia Maris, you find about 70% of the people are return guests. We are very late 50s (very late) and find Napa is for ALL age groups. Booked again for 2006.

Well I've just booked the Tasia Maris for next September so there's no going back- just hope it lives up to expectations!! Thanks to everyone that replied -you never know we may even meet up next September, it seems such a long way off but I'm already on countdown!! Anymore feedback on the hotel or area would be really welcome. I've booked a seaview room but I'm not sure if I should have been more specific .

Hi uklady55,sea view rooms are exactly that, rooms to avoid are 219,319 419,519.And the 5th floor 528,as the aircon unit is on the roof above.Try and ask for 226,326,426,these are very good.We go back on the 3rd Sept 2006,we only book a part sea view,as we are only in the room for sleeping, washing ect.Hope this helps you.

Thought we would report back & let everyone know this place is as good as other people's write-ups have suggested. The pool is excellent, the rooms are cleaned every day, staff really friendly & helpful.

No real entertainment during the day, which I have to say was great, on the days we were around the pool it was a nice relaxed atmosphere, a bit of unobtrusive background music & the sound of kids having a whale of a time.

We went SC rather than ½B as we thought the cost of SC (as advertised) was rather expensive (in the past we have always 1/2B & had excellent food), glad we didn't this time as the "restaurant" food was OK but not nearly as good and as varied as the places on Nissi Avenue; It wasn't really a restaurant with laid tables anyway, much more an extension of the bar, with plastic chairs! (the two times we did eat there [the first night we arrived, and a full English before we left] the food was excellent, but the menu choice is very limited. However it is advertised as SC, so its not a grumble, purely an observation.

Therefore, we ate out most nights, the cost being comparable to a pub grub, but restaurant quality and service; All we went to were very good, our favourites were "Valentinos" for the excellent food and atmosphere, closely followed by "The Gardens" which were let down only by very slow service at busy times.

The local beach is actually called Sandy Bay & we all really enjoyed it, there a small water sports area, which is pretty unobtrusive; there's plenty of (hot!) sand to play on (needs wetting to make sand castles!!!), even got great rock pooling - catching shrimps, hermit crabs"¦; the water is warm, what more could you want, .. Snorkelling is good too. The water does get deep a little way out, then shallows out again, our kids really enjoyed playing in the sea.

Bus service is utter crap, clearly building on British standards there, unreliable & only slightly cheaper than a taxi (if you negotiate the price in advance)

I would recommend going into the Troodos to Kykkos monastery, it's a long haul but very impressive, the ruins at Kourion are also very interesting (if you like that sort of stuff), I thought our kids (9,5) would be bored but they really enjoyed it, there is lots of info and shelter if it's a hot day"¦ like, man when's it not a hot day? (I think we may have seen a cloud, cant remember!)

The roads are excellent (drive on the same side as us which is handy). Plenty of place to see "real?" Cyprus life in the Troodos, also is It interesting going to Nicosia, there is a huge Turkish flag visible from one of the roads in, that's painted onto the mountain side, very provocative; Even got a McD there which (sadly) the kids spotted, away from the main shops, really reminded me of the rougher parts of Turkey.

Overall a great holiday, but would we go again NO"¦ why
(a) Never go anywhere twice!
(b) Cost of living is ridiculously expensive, staggering (even the local find it hard going & have relitivly few alternatives)
(c) Cyprus is nice, but relatively indistinguishable from any other Mediterranean country in my opinion.

HTH.

Hello, can anyone help me out with the Tasia Maris?

I've never been to Cyprus before but fancy the Nissi Beach area. I've been looking up hotels and have seen so many Tasia Maris ones. Are they a chain? Are they next to each other? How many are there? So far, I've seen Tasia Maris Beach, Tasia Maris Sands Beach, Tasia Maris, Tasia Maris Hotel, Hotel Tasia Maris, Tasia Maris Village, Tasia Maris Garden Village... the list goes on!

One I definitely liked the looked of was the Gardens one, but as there will be only two of us, we don't want to pay the supplement for 4 sharing a room. Has anyone got any suggestions? I'm open to offers :-D
Thanks, Jayne

Hi Jayne,

They are indeed a group based in Cyprus and they're website should help
http://www.tasiamarishotels.com/

You can use the "Hotel Review" section at the top of this page to view some reports including recent ones and also use the search facility also top of the page and search the Cyrpus forums for "Tasia Maris" there are 100s of previous posts which should help too.

Good luck

Hi, if you look on their website tasiamarishotels.com it will give you details of all their hotels and the rates. It might be cheaper if you booked direct with them and did your flights separately, than go with a tour operator - you don't usually pay underoccupancy charges then. Worth looking into anyway, as we find we normally save money booking this way.

Thanks for that.

I've had a good nose round the website, and already I can see we'd make a saving of nearly £200 by booking direct with the hotel! Now, if I can find a cheap enough transfer, we're laughing! :-D
Cheers, Jayne.

Jayne,
We have been visiting the Tasia Maris Beach Hotel for the past 9yrs this is a Thomson Gold Hotel and as such can only be booked through Thomsons.
The Gardens are self catering but I do belive you can pay to eat at the Beach Hotel.Being a Gold Hotel there are no Kids under 16 allowed at the Beach Hotel.

Hi qatarman,

As you're a regular there, could you give any details? I know the website has stuff, but it's always better to hear from a real 'human' if you know what I mean!

What kind of food is available? How far a walk into Ayia Napa, and to the local beach? Any other little tips you may have? As I'm still not sure which of the Tasia Maris to choose!

Hope you can help, thanks.
