SATURDAY:
Down by the pool during the day, another very hot one with little or no cloud. I think I may be the brownest I've ever been from a summer holiday
Ok, we checked with the concierge about tickets for 'Believe', they are sold out all weekend, thought that would be the case but worth a try. We jumped in a cab from the Signature and went down to Wynn. Interestingly it only cost $10 by cab, the same it would do by Monorail only by cab it's door to door! Lesson learned there I think, the monorail is no longer a cheap means of getting from one end of the strip to the other! Had a brief look round Wynn and watched the 'Lake' show which is an attempt to have a show not unlike Bellagio but it's nowhere near as good as the fountains. Had a quick gamble and lost, then walked next door for our first look at Palazzo. We quite liked it, would definitely think about staying there if there was a decent deal on. Had a gamble on the slots - I won $100 on a 1c slot called 'Sun and Moon' by hitting a bonus whilst playing a bonus and getting 52 free spins, it was a good little machine, haven't seen it in any other casino.
Frpm Palazzo we walked over to Treasure Island. We haven't been in there since we stayed there about 5 years ago. I still quite like it. They had some $5 tables in there, even though it was a weekend so we both sat down to play some Pai Gow poker. We must have played for three hours in the end, most enjoyable. I walked away $50 up and Linda was $8 up. It was a really good atmosphere with nice dealers too. Got a cab back to Signature around 3am - cost was just over $10 due to traffic on the strip I guess.
SUNDAY:
Definitely our last full day!
I struggled up at 08:20am despite not getting in till 3am. Sleep is for wimps
Spent the day by the pool, was VERY cloudy until 1pm, the cloudiest day all holiday, still hot though. After that it finally cleared to leave beautiful blue skies..........last time we'll see them for a while (after tomorrow morning possibly).
It's now 5:30pm. We're just packing now, and I've checked in online - another bonus of having the laptop with us. Just need to drop the bags off tomorrow and pick up our boarding cards. I have priority passes to the US Airways lounge at McCarran thanks to one of my credit cards so we should have a bit of comfort before we get on the cramped plane!!
Plans for tonight may have changed again, Linda wants a steak again so we'll probably give the Cheesecake Factory a miss for the first time in a few years. we'll still pop into Cesaers though to go into Abercrombie and Fitch. Other than that, I'm looking forward to a late night with some more Pai Gow and Let it Ride/3 card poker. Not sure where yet - will try to make it one of the MGM properties to see if we can bump our players card points up a bit more, have stuck lots of drinks on it in the last couple of days and want to see if we can get all, or at least some knocked off for free!

We haven't actually got that much on our cards, probably about 4800 points in all so we'll see if we get anything.
I thought I'd end this report by just listing a few pointers I've got from this trip -
1) We still love Vegas!
2) It is VERY quiet compared to the last few times we've been. Takings are well down in the casino's according to the
press
3) There's also issues with new construction. I've read that 'Echelon' the new resort down by Trump tower due in
2010 has been put on hold with part of it built, because of concerns over financing.
'Plaza' - the new resort from Boyd Gaming next to Wynn due in 2011 has been postponed, due to restart in 2010
according the the LVRJ paper.
City Centre project is ongoing, due to complete in 2009, although there are concerns around financing that as well.
4) The monorail is no longer a cheap travel option - a cab seems a similar price or cheaper if travelling the strip
5) More casino's keep lower limits even at weekends, to try to get more people gambling
6) Construction on the strip is leading to some hotels being 'dirty' and 'noisy' and really not very enticing. It's worth
considering before booking a hotel - is there any construction nearby and is it worth the hassle, even at a good
price?
7) I have to praise Luxury Suites International, who, having used them for the first time, we have loved our time here
at the Signature, our room has been cleaned regularly, communications have been fast and helpful and most of all,
they saved us around 40-45% off the price asked by MGM!

Finally, the staff at the Signature, all of them say hello, even when passing in the corridors and walkways, they are
all so polite and helpful. The pool areas are uncrowded, not too noisy and are very relaxing with pool drinks and
food service being excellent. Yes, there are cheaper strip hotels (although remember this only cost us £60 a night
for 10 nights of our stay), it really is worth the money for an extra bit of luxury which helps make the holiday that
bit more special and memorable.
I sincerely hope we come back to Vegas next year (finances permitting)!

and if we do, there is a very good chance we'll do the same again with the Signature if we can get a similar or better deal.
I now look forward to reading other peoples Vegas reports to get my fix until next year!!
Cheers,
TC
