I too am obsessed with them.
I have now even found a company in UK that supplies them, so in between visits to Tenerife I can eat a plate of them, followed by garlic prawns and a french stick dipped in M & S garlic mayonnaise.

Hi All

Just an update really on how things are going

Our solicitor in Tenerife is still fighting for our money, and at the moment he is winning as he has not had to hand it over yet.

Now to the house sale. After the last potential buyer - you know the one who wanted to knock £5,000 of the agreed price because we were decorating one of the bedrooms - well; we decided then that as we had lost the property in Tenerife we would just hold on until we got the price we wanted for our house as we now have no timescale to work to. We had no viewings for almost three weeks and everything had gone really quiet until last Saturday. Hubby and I went shopping for the day to buy my youngest son's birthday pressies. We went to Lakeside in Thurrock for those of you who know it and for those of you who don't it is one of these large indoor shopping centres. We came out of there at about 4 o'clock and my mobile was going mad with missed calls - obviously had no signal in the shops. Looked at the numbers and realised it was one of our Estate Agents. I said to hubby I would phone them when we got home if it was no too late. Got home about 4.45p.m. to the house phone ringing. When I answered it the Estate Agent on the other end said "where have you been, i've been trying to contact you all day, i've got someone who wants to view your house". Apparently these people had been to my house to have a look at it from the outside, walked around the back to have a look at the fishing lake and country park that I back onto and even spoke to my neighbours. After all the let downs we decided that we would decide when people came round in future and we would not be told "someones on their way" anymore etc. Anyway, the estate agent said is it ok for them to come now and I said NO, i've just walked in the door so they would have to leave it for an hour or so - well you've got to sit down and have a cup of coffee after a long day spending your husbands money. They turned up at 5.30p.m. looked round and went. By 6 the estate agent was on the phone all excited saying they had offered the full asking price, she also commented that I did not sound very excited. I told her with all the let downs we have had I will not sound excited until the money is in my pocket and I'm on a flight to Tenerife. Got a phone call from the agents on Monday to confirm the offer and to say they have sent me everything in writing and also to get our solicitors deatils etc. On Tuesday got another call from the agent to say that the surveyor would be coming on Thursday. Well he came - glad I wasn't paying him, not that there is anything wrong with my house that I know of but all he did was jump up and down on a few floor boards and got his tape measure out.
So now we just sit and wait and see what happens. As we have said if it all goes through at that price then brilliant, if it all goes pear shaped then so be it. Thing is I have lived here for 23 years so have accumulated what men would class as a load of c##p. Do I start sorting out, throwing out and packing things in boxes or is that tempting fate? If I start packing and it falls through I'll be surrounded by boxes but if things start to move quickly and I haven't packed anything it's going to be a mad rush.
HELP! what would you do. Also I have got to think about Tenerife, as we now have no property to go to we are going to book into our timeshare for a few weeks and then look to rent somewhere until we find a property we like, but obviously can't do anything like that until we have some dates to work with. HELP!

well solicitors usually decide dates for completion so i would wait until my solicitor said owt before i started packing...

so glad things are looking brighter for you jackie, even tho you lost out on the place you wanted in tenerife..my Nan used to say everything happened for a reason...( although when you are completely :swear off it is hard to accept that little word of wisdom)

My house is going through again with the same people who were buying it in the first place..she has got a mortgage just in her anem and they want mine without even selling thiers first now..but like you jackie, i don't believe it until the money is in my bank account..

good luck jackie...

Hi all

Just another update really.

House sale going fine (well at least I haven't heard anything to say it's not)

Now to the property in Tenerife that we lost and that had apparently been sold to a cash buyer and gone to notary the week we were informed that we had lost it. Over the last couple of weeks we have been on various websites advertising properties in Tenerife for sale, and must say that we have found quite a few that we want to view. Anyway whilst trawling through pages and pages of properties OUR house that was supposed to have been sold was being advertised. I contacted the agent by e-mail just making a few enquiries as if we were interested in it and from their replies it turns out they have been marketing the house for almost nine months which is basically when it first went on the market and approx a month before we put our 10% deposit on it. Well as most of you know the idea of putting a 10% deposit down is to secure the property and the owner must then take it off the market, which in this case he did not do with everyone who was marketing it. We have informed our solicitor of this and he is now investigating it with the agent that is advertising it. It now seems that the seller broke the contract long before our completion date came and went. Will keep you updated as to any further progress and hopefully I will be telling you that we have got ALL of our money back due to the scum bag breaking the contract almost eight months ago.

Hope you get it sorted Jackie...

our house is sale is now going through with the original people who intended to buy it in the first place.. but it hit snag after snag and then we were both getting mixed messages from our solicitors, each blaming theo ther for nothing making any progress..

by pure fluke last week, we found that the estate agents had instructed my solicitors the wrong name of the buyers solicitors, so they were sending all the paperwork to completely the wrong firm at the other end of Retford. The estate agent was never asked to do this by the buyers and the buyers have never dealt with this solicitors firm. meanwhile, their solicitor has been running around wondering why my solicitor won't deal with them and where the paperwork is...and of course.. our legal bills keep climbing..

It turns out the money for the house sale has been sat at the buyers solicitor for 3 weeks waiting for the contract from my solicitors etc and an arrangement to release the money..

meanwhile, the paperwork has been returned from the wrong solicitors..but instead of forwarding it on to the right solicitors to save time.. they sent it back to mine with a snotty letter...

i have now told my solicitor i will go in and fetch it myself and hand deliver it myself to the right solicitor...

so.. the money is there, my house is empty waiting for the exchange of contracts.. and still nowt is happening... how much more simpler could it be? Anyway, my solicitor is under express instructions to get it sorted before the end of the months or else!!

Hi Blue Marlin

It's nice to know people care :D

So far the sale is going through OK, at least I haven't heard anything otherwise. The survey has been done on our house, the buyers have their mortgage and their solicitor is in the process of doing the searches etc. I haven't packed a thing because I don't want to tempt fate. Thing is it is coming up to an awkward time of year now being near christmas. My eldest son is not moving to Tenerife with us so he is in the process of trying to find somewhere to live, he will be having most of our furniture and no doubt plates, cups, saucepans and anything else he needs, so really it is just our personal possessions to pack. We are coming to Tenerife for Christmas 15-29th December (normally have three weeks but husband is taking two sons skiing 5th Jan so we had to cut it short). I am hoping that we can delay the move until the end of January because at the moment we have nowhere to live  . We hope to find something to rent while we are there in December and I have also been on various websites with property for sale so we are hoping to view a few places as well. If we find something in December then they will just have to wait until the end of January if they really want the sale because we are not putting any more deposits down.

Will keep you updated as to anything new.

Thanks Jackie for the update so glad that things seem to be going according to plan I will of course keep every thing crossed,

I am a bit more fortunate than you as I have my Little place in the sun to go to
Like I said I wish you the best of Luck and you never know we might meet on the otherside
