Hi ya
Have been on holiday to tenerife a fair few times stayed in the Bitacora Hotel twice which was fab.
Can you tell me why suddenly the holiday prices for tenerife next year have plumeted has something changed about the place for the worst.
Previously it cost me £2200 - £2500 for a family of four staying for 2 weeks now suddenly i can pick a holiday up in july and oct nect year for £1405???
Has it become grotty or something whys are the travel agents dropping the price so much?
Hi, sorry I can't answer your question, but have to say I have noticed this too. This august, we went for 2 weeks staying at the bouganville half board, it cost us £1,532, for 2 adults, 1 child (12)..Pricing up holidays for different destinations, going around the same time, and they were all coming up over the £2,000 mark. Looking at the last minute holidays too, (just last week), and we could have gone from our local airport (Leeds/brad), for £99 each staying at columbus, or las piramides, other last minute holidays were treble this. Could have been quite tempted, if we hadn't just got back Regards BBB.
lets hope a few people take the offers then..... cos its mighty quiet this year
We found next oct at the bitacora which is usually about 2200 going for £1400.
My parents are going to the bourganville what was it like :0)
Hairy hampster maybe thats why its cheep if its been reallu quiet and they are not selling the holidays ...
Could it be to do with all the reports we have seen this year about immigrants landing from Africa. Apparently 20,000 have landed this year already compared with that number for the whole of last year.
the only thing that has stopped me going to tenerife this year is the fact that we will have had 2 trips to Gran Can this year and 1 week to Egypt.
Much as i would like to go to Tenerife.. we just can't afford it and so it will be next year when we arrive, probably about March time.
I would recommend Tenerife to anyone looking for a great holiday regardless of all the negative press it gets because of illegals arriving or con men being shown on tv!
So hopefully the prices of the holidays to Tenerife will remain to be cheaper and all those who love it, will be able to go more often and lots of others will come flooding back.
Did notice it was quieter in March and June, but don't mind that either...it's actually quite nice not queueing for tables etc.
Crap bars selling watered down drinks at "bogof" prices, constant hassle from prs who lure you into their trashy establishments with the offer of free booze that has come straight from the slops tray, (flat warm beer)
It's garbage! pure and simple...
2. i dont do bogof
3. i dont use a pr
4.my beer is freezing cold served in iced glasses
with those sort of remarks my friend im suprised anyone comes here.
true, there are some parts of LC and PDLA that do look a little tatty and need of a face lift.. but that can be said of any town anywhere in England..
also true, there are some establishments that have a little guy posted outside trying to entice you in when you so much glance at the menu on your way past.... but i have never encountered anyone selling watered down beer, bogof offers ( i did in Lanza though) and Rob has never had a warm flat beer served to him yet.. and we have been going for eons...
the place you are describing sounds like skegvegas on any night of the week, never mind a rainy saturday in November...
i would return to tenerife tomorrow if i could afford it...
The Tenerife you describe is not the Tenerife that we have been visiting for 23 Years.
If you are being served beer from the slops tray perhaps you need to find a different bar; never experienced anything like you describe.
But then having said that you get what you pay for. As Val says, you can find what you describe anywhere in the UK, it just depends wether or not you choose to enter these establishments.

As far as overstated outrageous generalisations go that one pretty much takes the biscuit.
Happily most sensible people will recognise it for exactly that.
The large tourist resorts PDLA and LC are going through a major refurbishment programee and revamp which together with the media misrepresentations of the immigrant issue is causing some problems.
I think thats why some carrot dangling offers are about so that sensible people who arent fitted with blinkers and take the trouble to venture further afield than say 2 blocks from their accommodation will appreciate the tremendous efforts being put in place to allow the island to compete in todays changing holiday market.
I really dont know why holidays are cheaper, its good news for people like us who love visiting the island.
The only thing I can think of is that some people are starting to try more "far flung exotic" locations, perhaps at the expense of the likes of the Canaries, Spain, Majorca and Portugal etc.
Most of the bars/restaurants even in the so called "tacky" area of PDLA are still of quite a reasonable standard, they have to keep their prices down due to competition.
However I will say that I received an EXTREMELY watered down vodka and coke in a well known bar in the San Eugenio area.
Will not name names as I know its quite popular on here.............but it appeared to me that there was vodka around the rim of the glass but not a lot actually inside it!
Thankfully it was the exception that proves the rule.............and 99.99% of the others were brilliant!
I dont know about Tenerife being cheaper but I have booked the Vulcano for Easter for two weeks with Portland and I didn't find it cheap! as for it being tatty etc, I dont know where merseygull has been but he certainly hasn't been to any of the establishments we have visited on previous trips to Las Americas. Hubby and myself went for coffee and a piece of gateau after seeing the advert for it on a poster outside a restaurant in LC. WOW! the poster just didn't do it justice, it wasn't so much a piece, more a chunk and it was far cheaper than we would have paid back home for a slither ! they also have a restaurant in PDLA just across from the Vulcano, so guess who will be piling on weight next Easter
If people don't want to go and appreciate all the wonderful things about Tenerife, that's entirely up to them, but in my opinion it's their loss.
I love Tenerife! We are going in November, and I can't wait!
i love tenerife but the reason we stoped going was there was nothing else to do up in puerto with a 10 year old she has been 2 times and we have been about 9. i know some pepole will say go down south but no thanks done it once and did not like it to much. but still love the rock we will go back to see our freinds up north 1 day mabe when our girl is old enough to go on holiday with her friends so in the mean time its benidorm for us
Still it wouldnt do for us all to like the same thing would it.
Couldnt put my finger on it but the place just didnt do anything for me.
im in tenerife for two weeks in november and i love any where for holidays just to get a blow from the hussle and bussle of the uk
