Far East is a long flight but no doubt about it Thailand is worth the pain.If Flying from Manchester with Emirates they now use Boeing777Er aircraft. The good is the IFE,500 plus channels of movies music games etc.The most brilliant thing about this is the ability to pause rewind stop any time you like so if you feel like a kip,hit the pause button sleep and when you wake hit start again.
The bad.Emirates have configured the 777ER 10 across as opposed to almost every other airline 9 across. This results in narrower seats and aisles.Pretty cramped in my experience. The really bad,Dubai airport is now a nightmare. It is undergoing major expansion and you will rarely get a gate on arrival for transit to your onward destination. This results in being bussed into the terminal increasing travel time and reducing the time between flights.
Last year due to fog which causes increased aircraft seperation for air traffic control reasons we missed our conection and had to queue for several hours at a transfer desk and spent a night in a hotel losing a day of our holiday.
Due to this traumatic experience We have chosen a longer lay over between flights and booked at great expense a room at the in terminal hotel for 6 hours.See what I mean even though above a lot of what I have said is negative we still chose to fly through Dubai with Emirates.Tell you Anything?
DXB will I am sure once again be a great airport but I am not looking forward to the journey next week. However once you get over the journey what awaits is an experience you will not do just once
Regards
Papa
I did enjoy the flight with Emirates through Dubai we did a couple of years ago- even with an enforced overnight stay at a hotel( at their expense) It does seem to make it easier to endure even though total time to get from A to B is longer.
