I have stayed in Krabi and I loved it, but not sure about weather in June , I have stayed in Ko Samui in the summer months of July and August and had great weather , so I think on the weather front i would make KS my first choice.
There are some beautiful hotels and beaches there and many good restaurants too, KS has become very busy in recent years particularly in Chaweng , if you need any more help just ask , love shirleyv x

agree with Shirley. We have gone a three times in July and August and KS has great weather. Yes, it does rain but we found that it was almost always about 6pm for an hour or so and we weren't bothered as we were always relaxing after a hectic(!) day on the beach and then getting ready to go out. We did get caught one afternoon 20 mins walk away from our hotel and we were like drowned rats by the time we got back. It was funny though!
Bangkok- it did rain a few times but never for more than an hour at a time( and not more than once a day)
Koh Samui isn't really the best of places for sightseeing. There are a few things to do but we go there mainly for R and R. After Bangkok you need it! Good hotels are in an abundance in Thailand. You can live in luxury for a fraction of what you pay here. Pick a hotel either near the skytrain or on the river, where you can take river taxis everywhere. If you pick a hotel away from both you will spend most of your holiday trying to get somewhere!!

A shower in Bangkok
Only joking- this was when we got caught up in a mini typhoon when we went to Chatachuk market! An hour earlier and it had been lovely and sunny. Two hours later the rain and floods had disappeared and it was lovely and sunny again  . I hasten to add that this was not the norm for rain!

We had 5 nights in Phuket and 3 nights in Bangkok at the end of June last year as part of our round the world trip.

Although we didn't really rate Phuket, the weather was great, high 20's low 30's every day, sunny with a few clouds. We stayed in between Kata & Karon beach, Kata was far superior in our opinion.

In Bangkok it was a different story, it rained every day, absolutely lagged it down one evening for about 3-4 hours......

The thing with the weather is you just can't guarantee it. We booked a late deal to Corfu during August bank holiday week in 2002 (yes it was expensive) and it rained constantly for 2 days!!!

You can still have a great time though...to us it's now not all about the suntan but the experience.

For Phuket in June had 4 cloudy days out of 18. Cannot remember if it rained so obviously not that much!

Mods - can post monthly weather reports if you want for Phuket Laguna area - February, hot (over 90), couple of hours rain during the night. Some cloudy days but sun breaking through. Air con required at night!

that would be handy. If you start up a new thread I can "sticky" it. :D

Well if we are going to have a weather report thread.

Usually travel to Thailand between Jan and March. Never seen any rain in Phuket, Cha'am, Hua Hin, Phuket, Pattaya, Krabi or Khao Lak as well as Bangkok and various parts of Northern Thailand - most days have been scorchingly hot and bright. The only place where we encountered rain was Koh Samui in Feb - even then we had mostly bright sunny days.
