Hi, I'm thinking of going to Thailand this June with my girlfriend and also wanted to ask a bit of advise.
1 We also want to avoid seedy go go bars etc. However we're pre-kids and we still want a pretty lively place if pos [ not that I'm saying those with kids can't get lively ]. We don't mind a place with a few other tourists, but just want to avoid idiots.
2 June can be a bit rainy by all accounts but I've heard that one side should be a bit better than the other, is it the east side? With this in mind we're considering Ko Sumui. Can anyone suggest the best parts, or anywhere else we could try?
3 Is it best to book flight and hotels etc. separately, or find a package, or maybe Xpedia of something? Who do people suggest?
Thanks
Tom
Can recommend Bophut in Koh samui. It has enough bars and restaurants for a lively night and the bonus of a short hop into Chaweng if you fancy something a bit livelier.
As for which is cheaper- there is no one right answer. Have a look and see what you fancy- try it DIY and also through TOs. If you use Expedia, try booking the hotels separately as well. It can take quite a few hours of investigating but you should find the end price well worth it
Sala Samui offers a good stay and pay offer then (Stay 7 pay 5 I think) and is a nice little place. It's on Choeng Mon beach, similar to Bo Phut, maybe a little quieter.
Zazen Resort on Bo Phut - fab little place.
