Ingo's night market licence to be revoked
Arpora Village Panchayat has decided to revoke the licence granted to Ingo's night market that opened last Saturday. The panchayat decided to revoke the licence issued to Ingo Grill on the grounds that it causes traffic congestion, gives poor opportunity for locals to conduct business and pollutes the area. [H]
Oh dear it`s starting again
In other words he hasen't given them enough back handers, it must cost Ingo a fortune, This happens every year, and every year they get greedier and greedier.
I wonder where he'll re-locate to. Don't think Siolim is an option after what happened last year!
Thanks
Gayle
it wasn't personal Its just a general plea based on past experiences with threads related to Ingos.
I won't have to run the gauntlet of that traffic jam again - my wife likes to go every week.
Don't get me wrong - I love Ingos for the music, the food and the general vibe of the place. It's just getting there and back again, that is too much hassle for me.
Grumpy Old Man.
Claudanne & Jimmy.
If Ingos does close, I can't see Mackies coping too well with the crowds.
Mackie's has not opened yet either.
I love Ingo's and have had some great nights there! I don't enjoy Mackies so much but nevertherless will be there if my first choice is not!
Ingo's was closed down tonight, because Ingo had opened last week without a license in place.
Ingo's definately didn't open last week......it was closed down by police. He opened up the previous week (10th Nov) and it was busy, but no market since then.
This will have a big impact on taxi drivers. Most would do 2 trips to the markets on a Saturday night. Without this business will prices go up?
They have said they want to change the image of Goa, and I'm afraid it's going to be local events such as Ingo's and Mackie's that will suffer. Perhaps the Anjuna market will be the next casualty, as Goa tries to rid itself of it's "hippies, drugs and booze" image.
Sorry to appear thick but what is (or was ) Inigo's is it a bar,is it a market, is it a wa y of life (sorry got carried away then) also what is Mackies (is it the same as Inigos only with another name)
Ingos and Mackies are / were Saturday night markets which also have lots of different food stalls and entertainment. Unlike the Wednesday market at Anjuna the level of hassle is much lower and being cooler it is more comfortable to look around.
Here's Ingo's website Hope it's not too late
I read an article in the "Sunday Times Travel" just before Christmas. It seems that Mr Raymond Diaz the Goa tourism minister wants to have a fleet of casino boats along the Goa coast. He would like to "attract a new class of tourists and get rid of the hippies, drugs and booze image" that Goa has.
I think Mr Diaz will find that he has swapped the hippies for pimps, prostitutes and gangsters. Gambling has always been a favoured way for criminals to launder money. I would also hazard a guess that there will be an increase in black market money changing, as local Goans try to get their hands on foreign currency to use in the casinos.
That's what the sign outside Ingo's says........just passed by there on the way home from Morjim.
GFF xx
I'll be there for the opening night then
