I have enjoyed reading peoples experience of Eastern Europe. They all seem very diverse which maybe reflects the nature of Eastern Europe. Something for everyone.
May I especially recommend the mountains of eastern Europe and the possibilities for walking. It is a national hobby in Poland to walk it seems and on the weekends a great cross section of Polish people stream up onto the hills in the summer to enjoy fresh air and a drink at one of the refuges dotted around. To join in this weekly pilgrimage is a rare treat and the selection of food and drink high in the mountains is staggering. It leaves one wondering how they bring up so many provisions.
