Is that such a bad thing? Turkey and everywhere else are international holiday destinations after all so they are entitled to holiday their just as much as anyone else. They have been for years already.

I don't think it is really a new thing with Russians going to Egypt either, we have been going since 2006 and they are very keen on the Red Sea resorts. I would say the majority of tourists are Russian at least 60% I would imagine they will love Turkey.

there are lots of russians who holiday in turkey . i was wary about them after reports of rudness etc . but have seen no problems at all with them . i find it comical however to see them drinking vodka before and after breakfast , they say it helps digestion..

Wasn't suggesting this was a bad thing merely noting that according to forecasts made by people in the travel industry it would seem that us Brits won't be the main holiday makers in turkey within the next 5 to 10 years and therefore possibly bars and hotels will begin to cater more for Russians than the brits,which I am also not saying is a bad thing!

I'd say I've seen far more Russians in Egypt than I've ever seen in Turkey .

Yes they do have rather a blunt way about them and too many at once and they take over but my Lads have befriended a few in Egypt before and enjoyed their company.

Probably because Antalya has a lot of 5* AI resorts. They seem to like high end All Inclusive hotels, or at least they do in Egypt, also I suppose now Turkey is getting so expensive for Brits and isn't such a budget option as before, maybe there is room in the market for new travel companies from other Countrys to move in to fill hotel beds.

Turkey and egypt are popular with russian tourists as there are no visa restrictions, from what i can gather a visa is required for travel to most of western europe( please correct me if i am wrong ).Denny i am aware that russians are attracted to the antalya region ,kemer is now a predominantley russian resort i beleive,my point was just to say that it has been predicted that in 5/10 years the russians will be the single largest holidaying nation to countries such as turkey and egypt(china and brasil were also mentioned also due to visa regulations),and i was pondering how it would or wouldnt affect us brits if and when this eventually happened,

I don't think Brits are the main holiday makers in Turkey. I recently saw tourism figures that stated up to 4 million Germans visit Turkey every year and about 2.5 million Brits. Most Germans choose to go to the Antalya area and many of the 4-5* AI hotels stay open throughout the winter which makes it possible for Germans to visit the whole year round. The hotels are considerably cheaper during the winter months and the Germans don't need a visa.

do you mean germans arent required to buy a visa at upon entry to turkey? the russian visa system from what i can gather is similar to the turkish one only some destinations will allow travel without a visa i think they are pretty much the same as the turkish ones ,thailand,bulgaria,egypt etc as i said before not 100% so apologies if wrong

Yes, you are correct along with the French, Danish, Greeks (and possibly some other EU countries) the Germans do not need to purchase a visa on entry into Turkey.

Always hate it if my hotel has loads of Russians in it. I find them amongst the most rudest and ignorant people I have ever encountered on holiday. They dont believe in queues and will just push you out of the way. I have yet to meet a Turk who likes them

When I booked my holiday to Hurghada last month in Thomas Cook,I mentioned the Russian tour company that TC had purchased a share in.
The agent told me that she had heard it didnt come off When I stayed at the Holiday Village in Sharm in December 2007 there were 3 Russian and 2 Polish holiday companies with guests at the hotel.
I suppose this is better than having empty rooms at a time when not many families travel.
