Having travelled to Crete regularly and used the beaches around Bognor Regis I can honesly say the beach at Felpham with it blue flag compares favourably with beaches in Crete.
Yes there is a downside and we all have to live with Butlins!! lol

Hmmmmmmmmn, Dunno about that! If ever given an option of where I would prefer to spend a week I reckon my decision would be made in .5 of a second and no, it would not be bognor!
