Hi all, we are visiting Flanders next month for 6 days and we are planning to cross over in to France and visit Lille for the day, can anyone please tell me the must do's ie things to see and do, and also things not to bother with, we are travelling by rail so can you please tell me where the station is in relation to the city centre etc ?.
Many thanks
Sliema2
I have only circumnavigated Lille, mainly to get to the Belgian channel ports during the fuel blocades of the last few years, but I understand that it is well-worth visiting.
Might I suggest an initial visit to http://www.lilletourism.com - I know that the information is mostly in French but it will give you a starting point. In addition you could contact the tourist office by email, and even if you only write to them in English, they will be able to send you documentation and a suitable map. DO make sure you try the mussels and chips!
Have a lovely time but you might want to bring rain gear ... it's not the sunniest of climes, but the local folk are very friendly.
Merci Alsacienne, ces't tres bon
