come on FTV- my last time online before my hols is tomorrow!
FTV, there are a group of about 4 shemales that work as prostitutes in baga. I think they are a big hit with the indian guys!
The ladyboys here are not a patch on the Thai ones, how any man can take one of them home and NOT KNOW is beyond me but it happens. Julie - (or at least thats what she calls herself) has been beaten up on quite a few ocassions - real shame I think.
GFF xx
PS FTV, great report so far - would you stay at So My Resort again???
Some scary thought GFF ah well each to their own I suppose. So My resort was great and I would definitely recommend staying there, mostly Danish people staying there but they are a nice friendly bunch and are a bit partial to a drink or 2 no noise at night time from drunken louts though so all was good.
Vagator was our destination today to catch up with old friends and relax on the beach, 250 rupees in the taxi was a fair price I thought so off we went. Clambering down the cliff to the beach we were greeted at the bottom by Sharmila and her husband Lou who had spotted us halfway down and gone to fetch 2 cold beers for our arrival.
Caught up on the previous year had some lunch and then we were surrounded by the beach sellers whom I have known for nearly 8 years, was great to see them all and had a good laugh when some of the new sellers tried to unpack their wares, they know me better lol.
Lou asked if I needed a bike, and at first I wasn't too sure with the new yellow plates coming into force but at 150 rupees a day for a Pulsar 180 I couldn`t refuse and duly accepted, at least it would cut down on highly inflated taxi prices. I had my International License and a good story and 200 rupees in a side pocket for any police stops and as I never use the bike at night time and never go really far anyway it was a done deal.
Night time came and we went to visit my best friend from the UK who had arrived that morning, as he was staying in Arpora we met up in All Spice, wow the food was superb but the only problem was the amount of it, far too much and there was no way we could have finished it. Had a chat with Vinnie about his trek round India on his Enfield, a great story and raised a fair bit of cash too.
Well here is the bit you have all been waiting for lol, with our new found freedom on the bike I decided to give Mrs FTV the Hippy tour that I did 8 years before. First stop Chapora for a juice and a shave, settled nicely into the chair "shave please" "as you wish sir" after a good shave and head massage "anything else sir" "yes could you trim my eyebrows, make smaller for me" (they were getting to look like caterpillars) "Ok sir" whoooooosh and Mrs Ftv jumped up and looked in disbelief "Andy he has shaved the lot off" I wont repeat what I said lol, the barber stood there amidst the commotion wondering what was going on. Well, after the initial shock and the realisation that it was too late I sat there in the chair and asked if he could possibly stick them back on for me, his face was a picture (as was mine) until I started to laugh as there was nothing I could do about it, I asked him to then proceed to finish the other side which he did rather nervously, and it still cost me 30 rupees. Luckily it was the start of the holiday so no major whiteness to make them even worse than they were. Off down to Vagator to lick my wounds, what a start to the day.
i bet you looked a right site!! lol Dont think anyone goin to your barber in a hurry! great report i dont know how u lot right such good reports well done
Strange you should mention it, but i'm sure i bumped into a bloke at vagator who looked slightly brow-beaten and even more strange they have now started to sell petrified hairy carerpillars in amber at Anjuna market
A mate of mine who is a regular to Goa and often visits the barbers once took the advice from the barber " Would you like a little something to remove the grey hair sir" and promptly recieved a full head of henna.
AND then the WATER went off.
The bedsheets and pillowcases go without saying, but apparently there wasn't a bit of the hotel that wasn't touched by henna.
Of course we where sensetive and subtle we he returned home and walked in the club with a barnet as black as a coalmine on a moonless night and even more sensetive as the weeks passed bye and his hair took on that rustic/reddish hue
Oh FTV shaved eyebrows that was so funny
Lol Eddie, I`m now on the road to recovery, strange thing is though nobody said a word, even my mate didn`t notice until I told him and he said he thought something was not right but couldn`t put his finger on it. God bless the young beach seller who was brave enough to speak her mind and say "Oi mate what happened to your eyebrows" Priceless
ftv after two days eagerly waiting poised with my pen in hand you may it now seems have a point i think il give that one a miss, thanks again steve.
I will finish my report with a few bits and bobs as after ` Eyebrow Gate` my mind melted and all the days seemed to merge into one big long one.
Beaches:
Vagator all the way for me, I just love the place and its laid back feel plus all my friends over the years are all here awaiting my arrival, I really miss them all.
Tried Baga and the rest but none compare maybe with the exception of the beaches further afield
Restaurants & Bars:
Restaurants visited:
Relish, Candolim:
Superb food, great service and lovely people
Cactus Shepherds Pie, Candolim:
Visited twice this year, first meal was lovely with good service the second meal I had was Chicken chilly Fry (supposedly) it was more like a chicken stew and not very good at all, my wife didn't enjoy her meal either so very disappointing this year for me.
Montana's, Calangute:
Right opposite our hotel and always looked busy, we ordered the steak with pepper sauce and Garlic mushroom toast for starters. Waited absolutely ages so were hoping it would be well worth the wait and wow it was divine, almost the best meal we had during our stay, cost about 1000 for the 2 of us with drinks which was a few bob more than we paid elsewhere but very nice.
Second trip was an absolute disaster 2 1/2 hours from start to finish, I opted for steak again which was superb but the chips were well undercooked as was the whole of my wifes kidney bean al a kiev. Too many people in the place and they could not cope, I didn't make a fuss about it just left it and paid the bill minus tip and walked away, shame really as the place has got potential.
Mango Tree, Vagator:
This place gets better and better, bit off the beaten track but well worth it if your in the area. Chicken shashlick which came with rice and curry sauce was my choice both times, 4 of us went the first time and it came to 850 rps for all of us with a beer each. Best meal during my stay, well recommended and so cheap. There is a lovely outside bar that you can sit at after your meal and chill out as well as movies in the early evenings.
Sendra, Calangute:
I had rogan josh, which was very nice but my wife had to send her chicken tikka back as it was still pink in the middle, spoiled the experience for us I`m afraid
Tulip bar, Calangute:
Ate here on our last night and had fish and chips lol, the fish was rock fish and was delicious, pitty we never tried it earlier as the staff were great and the service pretty good even though it was busy.
Over The Flames, Baga:
Very busy, we had the steak, very nice but nothing to rant about, service excellent and price not too bad.
The best place we found for breakfast was on the Calangute / Candolim rd opposite Sendra more or less called Kennys, full English or whetever you want, the staff very attentive and all the food we had here was very good.
I will do some more before I finish completely "¦"¦ TBC
cheers Lyn x
Couldnt sleep so have been trawling the forum and found your report. I have been laughing til I cried when I read about your eyebrows, that was so funny I can just imagine it.
Glad you both had a good laugh at my expense you will be pleased to know that they both are now back and looking forward to another trip to the Goan barbers in March
Haha I'll tell OH to watch his eyebrows the next time he goes for a shave
Hav only just have recovered from laughing! You're a star, hope you can cope with the fame
I'm loving it.....LOL
Feelthevibe - that report of yours was sooo funny, made great reading. Haven't you got any other tales to tell Question
Hav only just have recovered from laughing! You're a star, hope you can cope with the fame Razz
Thanks for the comments I could tell you about the the unfortunate person I saw having his head removed from his shoulders in Delhi but I wont
One funny tale that springs to mind is on my first visit to Goa, I was staying at the Hilltop in Vagator and got up one morning and strolled into the restaurant feeling rather peckish. Browsing the menu I spotted garlic toast, mmm just fancy that I thought to myself so duly ordered with a nice milky coffee to wash it down with, 10 minutes later the young smiley Nepalese lad came over with my toast ..... "enjoy sir", I bit into it and OMG garlic wasn`t in it, I opened the toast to count 18 full cloves between the bread, I love my garlic but WOW that certainly was a bit OTT
Another time at the Hilltop I ordered cauliflower cheese and mashed Potatoes and sat waiting when I heard bang, bang, bang, bang, I got up and walked to the serving hatch and peered through, the chef didn`t have a masher so put the spuds in a muslin cloth and beat the daylights out of it with a big wooden spoon. 2 years later when I returned to Goa I presented him with a state of the art potatoe masher
I hope they tasted lovely after all that
