how long do i wait for an acknowledgement of letter of complaint to be recieved by me....
I compalined about my families holiday via co-op travel they said they would send it on to thomas cook and keep a copy themselves so they could keep a track of the complaint plus send one to there head office
Its only been just over 2 weeks but co-op travel said i should recieve an acknowledgement from thomas cook in 14 days its only 2 days past the 14 days
was thinking of leaving it till 21 days then go back into co-op travel and tell them if i have heard nothing from thomas cook. I dont know the procedure for complaints and for the company to get back to you even if it is just to acknowledge the letter
I know I didn't book with TCooks but I sent a letter of complaint to Travelrepublic special delivery so I knew they couldn't come up with the excuse of not getting it.Posted it Monday16th June friday 20th june recieved acknowledgement,so at least they are on the ball with that.Don't know how long it will be for them to accept responsibility of the problem of my holiday complaint.I would try and get intouch with thomas cook yourself then you know one way or another.
The countdown would begin from when the tour operator actually receives your written complaint, rather than from the date of posting or handing it in to your travel agent. An acknowledgement to a letter of complaint should be sent within 14 days of receipt. A detailed reply, or a letter explaining the reason for any delay in providing that detailed reply, should be sent not later than 28 days from the date of receipt of your letter of complaint.
Send your next letter recorded delivery and ensure that in the body of your letter you include a line pointing out the fact that you have sent your complaint recoreded delivery so you can be certain that it has been received. I always send any complaints recorded, that way they have to respond in timely fashion. It also enforces the fact that you aren't going to go away.
If you currently have a head of hair,,, photograph it for posterity!
I was complaining BEFORE we flew and that has fell on deaf ears as well..
Good luck.... signed,, frustratingly bald, of Birmingham..
well, I had to go to ABTA to get a response to my complaint from Thomas Cook after waiting 35 days well outside of the code of conduct standards. I since replied to their letter and simply got a reply back with a copy of their original letter and a covering letter stating see letter sent to you on ..... without even addressing the issues I had raised , so good luck. Out of interest, what is your complaint against Thomas Cook ?
update went into co-op travel they sent the letter to thomas cook chased them up yesterday thomas cook have acknowleged the letter and have 28 days to reply
First letter I sent recorded delivery was on 5th May and I sent another on 16th June. Not heard a thing. I am now letting Ros Fernihough deal with it.
I sent TC at letter, recorded, (signed for) on the 19th June.
if you booked through travel agent ie independent travel agent like the co-op travel (which we used ) go with the same letter to them and let them send it on to the travel company they will also keep on the complaint.
Then Thomas Cook took over.
Shall I sen JMC a letter too?
I bet they say it's too late now
What is the deadline?
