after reading posts on this very informative forum i would be grateful if i could ask for some advice.l
I have booked a holiday for my family to algarve next year at a thomas cook shop.
We are a family with 2 adults with the same surname and 2 children with a different surname, altho they are travelling with 1 birth parent. After stumbling across this site since booking our hol i have learnt that we need consent from the birth parent that is staying behind for the children to travel. This confused me somewhat as the travel agent never once mentioned this during the booking process altho she did say we didnt need visas which i was already aware of. After learning that we needed additional paperwork i went back to the thomascook shop as asked them to confirm if the infomation was correct the lady said she had heard of "something" to that effect she didnt seem bothered. I said that i was never told that i may need any other paperwork and if they were making a booking with childrens names different to adults and the destination had certain entry exit requirements then i should have been informed-she promptly said "they were under no obligation to tell us" I came out off the shop feeling that they didnt really care because they had my booking. I feel i need to complain but i need to no whether i have a good reason or do i just let it go? Im so glad i found out about this on this site otherwise we would have just turned up at the airport completely unaware that paperwork was needed. We have travelled abroad before but have never needed additional paperwork. We dont have any problem getting consent for the children to travel its the fact that important information wasnt given which could have ruined our family holiday. Im new on here so im not sure i have posted on the correct board, if not please move to appropriate board.
many thanks
