I have booked a hotel with Thomas Cook for May and it was booked online.
The initial confirmation says twin room balcony , the usual stuff. The second e-mail with says the same the third posted correspondence says room as per brochure which just says twin room etc. The fourth one which is an invoice says Attic room which was received yesterday it also shows a discount of -£7 pp for an attic room. At no time during the booking and the first three lots of paperwork does it say attic room and there are no room options.
I would never have booked an attic room or the hotel if this had been a condition of booking.
When I rang T Cook they said i could change accomodation for a fee of £ 60 but I don't see why I should have to when there was no mention of this until the fourth lot of paperwork. I rang back later to see what brochure it was in and they said Manos but they did not have a brochure which again is strange. Strangely enough I rang them a couple of weeks ago because it is a four floor hotel and asked did this hotel have a lift, they said they would make a resort enquiry, and would ring and let me know. I have since been told they cannot tell me until March or April as the hotel is closed. I know they do now because I posted a question and the answer is yes.
I have only paid the deposit which i would be happy to lose rather than go into an attic room. It is due to be paid for 12th Feb.
Does anyone know where I stand, should I have been notified that this is a cheper room than the one I originally booked?
Thanks Margaret
I think you need to really push them on this one. It seems quite clear that they are not, now, giving you what you booked. You can prove it from your paperwork. Have a look in their Terms and Conditions, which should be on their website, as well as in the brochure. Look at the section re changes made by Thomas Cook, to see where you stand. They should, definitely, have told you about the change.I cannot see that they can possibly justify charging you to now "change" your booking.

That's a great idea. The same as we do when we go to Turkey. We book a Cosmos holiday, using Tesco clubcard vouchers, which are worth 4 times their face value. Then we just use the flights and stay in our own villa.
I could have cancelled with a full return of deposit but the flights have gone up so much that it meant if we cancelled we would not be going.
Thomas Cook seemed to have booked attic rooms in quite a few properties in Icmeler. Sun Village, Minimote, and the Navy are also using attic rooms.
Thank you
Margaret
Hi Margaret. I'm glad you got a good result. Enjoy your holiday.
