K_elly,

My source at the airport hasn't been home for 3 days while dealing with things so I don't like asking at the moment. You might want to check out Thomas Cooks inflight magazine and their listing. TOM's won't be much different although they offer a slighter wider choice. You'll just need to register with Ink Publishing to access it. IFE is listed on pages 121+.

Flying to Punta Cana on 24th March on flight TOM82; Have just had email to preselect seats but we have prebooked extra space seats - can anyone tell me which rows are extra space seats on this flight? and is it an ex FCA plane??

Can anyone confirm to me the retirement of the B752 G-BYAD from the fleet and if so where about is the a/c now? thanks.

brewerdave,

TOM082/3 are operated by a former First Choice Boeing 767-300/ER. There are 2 seating configurations so extra legroom rows depend on the specific aircraft assigned to your flight on the day. Seating plans are linked from our What Aircraft? guide (see below). The ones you are looking for are the 258 seat aircraft, either Version 1 or 2. Extra legroom rows are the ones immedately behind the red arrows indicating doors, and row 20 on Version 2.

onetruenutta,

G-BYAD was de-registered from the UK register on 07/12/2009. The aircraft was built in 1982. It was ferried to Goodyear for storage on 17/11/09 and now registered with Wells Fargo Bank Northwest as N963BV, presumably for parting out or converting to a freighter (with Fedex).

Dazbo, thanks for the help - I'm hoping its v2 of the ex FCA 767s - the Thomson web site is indicating row 14A&B as extra space so thats what I've gone for !!
On all my previous flights with Thomson/FC when I've paid for extra l/room I haven't known in advance which seats I'll get!
Out of interest, what if they change the aircraft? Do they "reallocate" the seats so that those who have paid for extra legroom still get them? :que

Hi,

Weare flying on the 27/01/10 to Punta Cana on Tom136, I just wondered if anyone know what type of plane this would be and as we have the option of reserving specific seats which are the best to go for if you are looing for a bit more room or are they all the same.

TIA
Reply
brewerdave,

The aircraft is normally assigned a week or two in advance so things can be co-ordinated. There are the same number of extra legroom seats, it's just the specific row numbers that are assigned so it's not much of a problem if it's changed at the last minute.

Littlebit,

MAN-PUJ-MAN (TOM136/7) are operated by a former Thomsonfly Boeing 767-304/ER. Seating is personal preference, there aren't any 'best' seat. They are pretty much all the same. Personally, I prefer the pairs by the windows just in front of the wing, but that's just me. If it's more room you're after, you need to pre-book extra legroom seating (likely to be fully booked this close to the flight). It's a comfortable enough experience in any seat these days. The only thing I would say, you might want to avod rows around the toilets as you get people queing there. You'll find further aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (see below).

Hi, sorry about the delay in getting the IFE list to you, I've been a bit(understatement of the year) tangled up in this weeks fun and games...

First of all, I mentioned it in my last post, about the IFE on the long haul fleet- the ex-First Choice 767's are being upgraded to the ex-Thomsonfly spec(minus touchscreen) basically the software, the premium package differences etc
The changes were planned to start taking place in the first 2 weeks of January obviously the priorities are slightly changed as some of the flights are 3-4 days delayed :really

so here goes

Short Haul
Jan/Feb
Leaving UK&Ireland

Post Grad
Or/And(longer flights
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Returning to UK/Ireland
All About Steve
Or/And
Aliens in the Attic

plus TV tapes- Hannah Montanna, Doctor Who, Piers Morgan in Dubai etc...

Long Haul

Movie selection 1

Outbound/Leaving UK & Ireland

*GI Joe: Rise of Cobra
*My Sisters Keeper
*Dorian Gray
The Time Travellers Wife
Julie and Julia
Up
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince
Adam

Inbound/ Returning to UK & Ireland
*Moon
*The Ugly Truth
*The taking of Pelham 123
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
500 Days of Summer
Night at the Museum 2
Ice Age:3
The Young Victoria

Movie Selection 2

Outbound/Leaving UK & Ireland

*Public Enemies
*Inglorious Basterds
*Funny People

Shorts
MJ:This is it

Inbound/ Returning to UK & Ireland

*Gamer
*The Informant
*District 9
All About Steve

Movie selection 1 is obviously from Nov/Dec, Most(if not all) of the fleet are still showing movie selection 1 due to the problems this week, aircraft have been turned around as quickly as possible. If I am able to find out as and when they are changed over I will post on here, but I will only know by aircraft registration, something most customers don't see or know the whole flight.

Dazbo or TOM-AMM-FCA, very sorry to be a bit dense but E.L.Room seats on v1 of the ex FCA 767s appears to be row 12 whereas on v2 its row 14 - so if I've chosen 14A & 14B on the plan but the plane allocated is v1 would I be AUTOMATICALLY moved to row 12 before check in?? or would I have to argue with the flight crew?? :think
Reply
brewerdave,

If you've booked extra legroom and the aircraft changes, you'll be moved to the other rows. This should be done at or before check-in so you shouldn't need to worry. Cabin crew don't have anything to do with seat allocation, other than having to resolves issues once on the aircraft! There are 5 aircraft in Version 2 and only one aircraft in Version 1, so it's unlikley to happen. Always take booking confirmation with you to prove you've booked extra legroom seats in case there's a problem.

Darren, you are a star! As I'm 6 ft 4" and suffer from cramp on long distance flights ELR seats are a must for me.
Many thanks
