SPANISHMICK,

I've been across the pond on them many times, they aren't as bad as you imagine. Bear in mind, it was only from May 2008 that the newer generation interiors were introduced. The what are now short haul aircraft were the norm on long haul up to then (FCA from 2005). The pairs of seats by the windows are better in my opinion as you get the impression of having more room, although you don't in reality. You'll still have seat back IFE, subject to the specific aircraft on the day, it's just less seat pitch. It's only for 9 hours, it's the bit between the flights that's the best part and as you say, beats working!

Hi Darren,

Thanks for replying.

Just received a further message from my friend in Hurghada regarding Thomson, Monarch and Jet2 airlines which reads:

"Last 2 flights were Friday. Monarch have their guests on Easyjet as do Thomson. Jet2 are using Thomas Cook at present"

Seems holiday makers are still getting out to Hurghada but being switched to different airlines?

Regards,
Pat

We are travelling in June to the D.R. I need use medical equipment, to maintain my airway and allow breathing at night, which weighs ap. 2.5kgs, Thomson has informed me that this equipment will be part of my hand luggage allowance, even though they will carry sports items e.g. a set of bowls free of charge, which I assume to be a similar weight.
The hospital informed me they have an arrangement with the airlines to carry this equipment, in excess of hand luggage allowance, free of charge and will provide an accompanying letter, to explain the need for the equipment, they are at a loss to understand why Thomson has viewed the request negatively.
When travelling to Jamaica last year Thomas Cook they provided this service, and I have travelled with FC prior to the union with Thomson and they permitted the request.
I am at odds to understand the reasoning behind the Thomson decision, any ideas.

bagsjules,

Welcome onboard :tup
BRS-SFB-BRS are operated by Boeing 767-300/ER, normally in the former First Choice configuration. You'll find extensive aircraft information on our What Aircraft? guide (link below). There are no best seats, it's personal preference. All seats other than extra legroom offer the same seat pitch and facilities. Row 9 in premium has no window.

jackd166,

Aircraft type is as previously posted. It's normally an ex-TOM, the specific registration makes little difference as they are all the same inside. G-BYAT (B752) looks likely however.

Any idea what happened to the Gatwick to Goa / Goa to Gatwick flights at the weekend? It was showing a 27 hour delay returning at one point.

Thanks in advance.

Re: TOM048/049 GTW to Samana Domincan Republic

Hi Darren, we are looking forward to heading off 9 Feb on TOM048 GTW to Samana. We have booked row 19 C&D as we were assured by Thomsons the seats fully recline. Someone has told me they were on the same aircraft and row 19 didn't recline and passengers were complaining. There is an exit at row 20, so would this stop them reclining? Is there any news about the aircraft being used for the flight? We booked them so we could recline and not bother people behind us.

Thanks again,
Mandy

mandyandcarl,

I sat in row 19 onboard the V2 aircraft (ex-FCA) for 14 hours going to PVR so I can assure you they do recline! They are the row infront of the overwing exit row. Bear in mind there are 4 configurations on the 767 fleet so passengers may not be on the same one you were scheduled to be on. All seats on the 767's recline though. Looking at the schedule, your flight is one of the swapped ones to the ex-TOM long haul now rather than the ex-FCA. Row 19 still reclines though, it just means there isn't the exit row behind.

Thanks Darren,

That's a shame - I only booked it because of the extra space behind, otherwise we would have picked 2 seats together AB or FG, further back. Do you think there is any point me calling Thomsons to check?

mandyandcarl,

You can call, but it's not going to change anything. As long as you're happy where you're sat. The flights changed from ex-FCA to ex-TOM commencing 12th Jan.
