Im really hopeing someone can reassure myself and husband. We are going away with our 2 children on may 9th this year and last night thought we would save ourselves some hassle and get our euro's on line. The majority of our holiday funds we placed on a American express travellers cheque card and that went fine, we then went on to the thomson website and went to order £400.00 sterling pounds to be exchanged into euro's and deliverd to us at home. We went through the transaction and when we clicked to confirm/submit it came back as tranaction declined, which shocked us. My hubby then called his credit card supplier[barclycard] who told us that we HAD been charged for that transaction by thomson and they had taken the money!!!!!!!!!!
We called thomson on one number to be given another which was closed by the time we called last night. We tried from 8.30am this morning with the line being extremley busy to eventually get through and be told this wasnt the number we needed[after 4 hours of trying ] There was no apology either just another number to call, who informed us that they 'didnt deal' with currency just holidays and we now have to wait till tuesday morning, and what is worrying me is that no one i have spoken with at thomson seems to know what happens next. I am so worried and dissapointed with my service at thomson in this matter, this is my second holiday with them in 6 months, and i used them to get married in december last year. Can ANYONE shed some light on this kind of situation. I really hope so
Thanks
If they state that they have not received your funds, thankfully as you have made the 'purchase' via your credit card and it is over £ 100.00 you can hold your credit card company responsible and either get them on the case or ask them to refund the monies.
I wouldn't loose any sleep over it until you have spoken to them.
Mark
Mark is spot on Mainy, I appreciate it is alright for someone else to say wait until Tuesday, as we are not in that predicament. However, you will probably find that it worked out hunky dory and the monies are there.
call your credit card company and see if they can help most credit card companys have a clause about buying on the net which protects your purchases, hope this helps x
Ill post back regarding the outcome!
The fact that your credit card shows a transaction to Thomsons is all the reassurance that you need. It's there in black and white. So don't worry. Do as Mark says....forget about it until Tuesday when I'm sure it will all be sorted out. I seem to remember we had the same problem with the Travelex website.
