I think I am right in assuming that Heathrow is the nearest airport to fly to for Thorpe Park (the theme park not the Haven holiday camp) but we live on the IOM and none of our airlines fly to Heathrow, where would be the next nearest airport, Gatwick, Luton or London City and how far away is each airport from the park. Also anybody know of a reasonablypriced or cheap hotel/B&B close to the part that we could stay. We are two adults and a child aged 14 so a place with a family room or two bedrooms would be ideal.
How far away from Thorpe Park is Chessington World of Adventure
Thank you.
Polly
You are right Heathrow is closest to Thorpe Park, then Gatwick, If you have a car then it takes about half an hour to get from TP to Chessington WOA, You might be better off booking a travel lodge family room or something for accomadation.
Gatwick to Chessington takes about half an hour too

Flying from IOM to Gatwick is turning out to be rather expensive and it would be cheaper for us to fly to Luton, can we get from Luton airport by rail (bus) whatever to Chertsey which is where I believe Thorpe Park is and roughly how long would it take.
Thanks
Polly
Hopefully someone will be able to put an accurate time to all this, but my quess would be anyhere between one and two hours.
Thorpe Park is situated in CHERTSEY in Surrey, if that helps.

Chessington is situated 12 miles from London on the A243, just 2 miles from the A3 and M25 (junction 9 or 10). Car parking is free.
From the South, take M25 junction 9.From the North, take M25 junction 10
From London, take the A3 to Hook - Chessington is sign posted on the A243. I would say that Gatwick was probably the closest Airport to Chessington.
Thorpe Park is about 17.9 miles away from Chessington. If you take a look here, http://www.theaa.com/travelwatch/inc/planner_places_redirect.jsp
You should find some more helpful information.
Thanks for all your help but we have decided that it is too much hassle going into London etc and will now look into staying in Luton or Gatwick and hiring a car, we were going to go in in Easter but are now looking at going first week in June as the kids on the IOM are off for that week (TT Races) but the kids in England are still at school (I think) so prices will be cheaper as well.
Dont know if you get them in the IOM but keep your eyes open for deals on the back of cereal packets etc where one child goes free for every paying adult otherwise it can work out expensive. If you can't get anything like that the next best thing seems to be a family ticket.
Have a great time.
One other thing Polly - the park maps you get have discount vouchers for the other parks in the group (or have done every year so far), so for example at Thorpe you will get vouchers for Chessington & Alton Towers - handy if you're going to do both Thorpe & Chessington while you're over. I can't remember the amounts, but it's worth having if you're going anyway.
can anyone tell me which airport gatwick or stanstead is better for going to thorpe park?
i know that heathrow is the best but it is very expensive to fly from shannon to heathrow
hope someone can help
thanks
