NUNS!
and the one that gets me everytime
Best episode for us was Churpy Burpy Cheep Sheep with Chris the unhappy sheep, quality.
Quite liked the episode that featured Irish 'jig' dancing in that small caravan - very funny,
Father Ted:
[holding up a toy cow ]
this cow: small
[ pointing out of the window ]
that cow: far away
Father Dougal: No sorry, Ted, I don't get it, can you show me again?
lets see....
1. a small island
2. lots of catholic priests, many of whom seem to have stumbled into the profession by accident
3. lots of alcohol consumed by said priests, esp. the stranger, older ones
4. talk about the mainland
Hello from me, getting back to the time share thing I have just found this site that has some good info on time share.
You will all be pleased to hear that the little darlings seemed to behaving themselves much better last week, hardly any mithering, in fact some were quite civil, not sure if it's because they know us now and have given up or they have all had there botties smacked for being naughty boys and girls.

16/12/2008, In today's Times Of Malta on-line, seems the slimeshare vermin are being as scummy as normal We confused the hell out of one of the guys by Bugibba bus station the other year as we obviously don't look Maltese but are both tanned from living in Cyprus. However, we weren't dressed like the tourists as we were both in jeans, fleeces and jackets - most tourists are still in shorts or jeans & t shirts, even at that time of year as it still feels pleasantly warm to them.
Malta is usually a couple of degrees cooler than our local temperatures and our winters feel cold - even if it's only for a couple of months....
So, stick on some long trousers and a coat - so you blend in with the locals.....
See you in Feb!

very senior officials from the MTA in Valletta, one of the things we spoke about was this very issue, I obviously can't say to much but they are very aware of the problem and the negative effect it has here in the UK and even more so after our meeting, constructive things are being done with much much more to follow, rest assured these officials are working very hard to put this right, I may give more info if or when I feel I can, or when I feel it's the right time to divulge it.
Right a quick update from Malta on this, last week I had the opportunity to meet up with a couple of I've noticed that often, after one of their pursuits, they then cross the road, wait a few minutes and then re-appear so they don't give the impression that they have been in one place too long. They are extremely devious.
Two to three operate directly outside the Hotel Prelune on the opposite side of the road. One female and one or two males. They give all the chit-chat about the weather, latest news in the UK and other rubbish in order to gain a rapport/confidence before they unload their garbage sales patter in order that they can get their sales commision. As soon as the unfortunate people accept the vouchers and turn up at the hotel for the high pressure sales seminar.
I've already intervened once and now I will do it more often .
we have just come back from a week at the santana in qwara and what a nightmare they were. one in particular had a cockney accent and was very aggressive, an absolutely horrible man. Every morning he would be waiting (with a couple of others) at the bottom of the santana steps waiting to pounce, my other half couldn't wait to see him every morning to answer him back with something sarcastic it was a game to him. they are an absolute menace.
If you have done anything Sliema2, well done old son I applaud you. We too have just returned from our usual four weeks, staying at the Preluna and twice, it was raining, two of the sharks who work out of the Preluna (not for that hotel) actually were stopping people returning to their hotel by barring the way. I made an official complaint to the hotel and was assured they had been spoken too but it's rather like talking to pork. So if there are to be moves, lets hope it's quick.
Luckily, we returned to something a little warmer and sunnier on arriving back in Cyprus. Not by much though, seems we too have had a blip on the horizon with our weather too!
We were staying at Club Salina Wharf in Qawra (our first time there) as we usually stay in Bugibba. It's just around the corner from the Palm Court which was completely closed. What a scruffy hole that looked...
Whilst we were on our travels between places, we were stopped by a pleasant young man whose name I shall not mention, for obvious reasons.
We've been stopped a couple of times by timeshare folk but they can't be too certain if we are residents or not as we are always in winter clothes on our visits to Malta each February. The "true" holidaymakers from colder climes are the ones in shorts, t shirts or cropped trousers....
We were offered the usual scratch cards with one of them being a bottle of wine and the other, surprise surprise, was a FREE holiday!!!!! NOT....
Anyway, we obviously weren't too impressed and explained we were resident in Cyprus so weren't eligible anyway. So, and here's the interesting part.........
He offered us 50 euros up front to go and take part in the presentation at the Santana Hotel. As long as we stayed for a minimum of 60 minutes, he got 100 euros for his referral. Now, 50 euros is 50 euros - so we said "yes" and off we went with our 50 euros tucked away in our pocket.
We did the same a couple of years ago and got LM20, which was around 42 Cyprus pounds. The ERM for Malta was set at LM1 to 2.33 euros so it's a pretty good deal.
So, if the weather is a bit "iffy" you know what to do - go and spend an hour visiting one of the timeshare resorts, put up a bit of resistance or ask what the best is they can offer you for going as you're definitely not interested in buying.
Will be interesting to see what the timeshare pests in Paphos offer next time we go for a day out from our home town of Limassol, as we've heard they are very aggressive (something we've never come across in our 4yrs visiting Malta). I will be asking for my 50 euros and if they can't offer it, I will be letting them know they can get a better deal in Malta and perhaps they should think of working there instead!
Cheers
CwB
Did the Palm Court look like any work had been done to it?
