don't' must be:
DO NOT change money with any street 'money changers' or in any streetside 'exchange bureaux' - the only reportedly safe streetside change offices are those operated by 'Crown Currency Exchange' in Sunny Beach.
Every hotel will almost certainly have currency exchange facilities and there are banks in all of the larger resorts (where you will usually receive the best rate of exchange).
------------------------------
The number one 'do' must be:
DO rent a safe deposit box on arrival, place all of your valuables, passports, etc., in it and only carry enough cash with you do cover the activity/activities that you are undertaking that day.

DO try the local food. It's perfectly OK the Bulgarians have lived well on it all their lives.
thanks everyone we will take that advice , as its our first time there xx
do not take a cherry from the guys on the street. They think that cause you take one that you then must buy a bag. Nearly got knocked down by a car as stopped in front of me on the road trying to get me to take one.

DO is in my opinion:

MUST DO
before you get into a taxi make sure you ask for definite price! got ripped off couple of times being first timers
If you are AI take off the bands before shopping- they instantly mark you out as a target. We went into Golden Sands and all the restaurant touts were recognising us as 'Albena'. I think they must wrongly assume that all inclusive guests have more money to part with
DO'S Treat the staff no matter where you are with respect and they will show you respect and kindness in return, say dobre utro, dobre den or dobre vetur and watch the change.
If you are trying to find a good restaurant or bar watch where the Bulgarian's are going as they will always know the best places no matter where you are.
DON'T Try and bring back loads of duty free as Bulgaria still currently has a limit which is much less than that of Spain i.e only 200 cigs per person.
Most off all remember that a nod mean's no and a shake mean's yes just to confuse things although usually in the resorts it doesn't matter.
GO WITH AN OPEN MIND AND YOU WILL REALLY ENJOY IT!!!!!

I agree totally with showing the staff respect. We noticed in the hotel restaurant that very few people even acknowledged the staff clearing their table let alone said thank you which is such an ignorant attitude.
If you take a trip into Bourgas watch out in the main street for the shoe cleaners ,they try to clean your shoes the only problem is if you happen to be wearing trainers the black polish they spray on before you get a chance to say no does'nt come off. Dont get caught out
but yes beware!
