thgis was the case where I went, and I believe most of corfu - must admit it wasn't very pleasant - but definately wouldn't put me off going to corfu....

this depends on 2 things
1] how old the local sewage system is
2] how old is the hotel

in most of Greece the public sewer system cannot cope with paper/nappies/[female products] so older hotels/ homes/businesses that discharge directly to the main system will have a fly bin DON'T let this put you off they are usually emptied daily [or a disposal point may be available] there is nothing unhygienic with this system i have found it in older properties all around the med... if it is a new hotel it may have a holding tank and mass-orator system [this is like a big blender and the wast is liquidised before entering the local system HOWEVER you must still NOT put nappies/female products down the loo as this will damage the mass-orator..

It's amazing how quickly you adapt to using the bin and think nothing of it. The bags can be disposed of daily (or tie them up and get rid of them more often if you want). You could take smaller bags and dispose of each lot of toilet paper in them if it makes things more acceptable! Really, it seemed a bit strange to me the first day I ever went to greece, but no longer than that. It's just a fact of life there.
Out in public, you learn to guage whether you want to use a public toilet by the state of the bins

take some scented nappy sacks with you and use those.........helps

remember when you get home not to put the paper in the bin the first time you go

hi been to zante and turkey yes you need to use bins but you do get used to this . it wouldn't put me off a holiday i'am off to corfu in august tell your girl friend may be england might be a nice place to holiday . av fun what ever you decide
