Hi,
You are able to flush toilet roll down the loo in Salou, the only time i have been told not to was in a little cafe i was in, the owner explained that their loos were not yet connected to the new drainage system but every where else is fine.
Its more common not to flush in places like Turkey and Greece so dont worry you will be fine :D

I think someone is trying to wind you up

As Loulou says Turkey and Greece are usually the places where this happens.

If it is your first time abroad I would advise a couple of things.

Firstly remember that you are in a different Country and usually a different culture - Things that are acceptable over here may not be accepted elsewhere - and vice versa.

Secondly, dont take what you find or see initially at face value. I remember my first foreign holiday. Arrived in the middle of the night and the coach transfer from the airport to the hotel took us through what I though was the some of the roughest areas and run down places you could think of. In the cold light of day I realised what I say in my first point applies. (Incidentally I have now been back to that first destination about 10 times!!)

Lie back - enjoy your holiday - go with the flow - accept that things in general won't be like back home. :D

As long as you don't go round shouting "Gibraltar is British" you should be OK.

Good advice

Generally I think our Hosts when on Holiday are a pretty tolerant bunch when you see and hear of some of the antics which go on.

Its just a case of being aware that things may be done differently. Treat people with respect and usually it is returned (as in the UK though there could be the odd exception!!) Be patient - usually most problems I think are down to lack of comunication and people getting frustrated (on both sides) By that I don't mean it is impossible to get by without the language. Although it may help. To my embarrasment after all the years of going to Spain I can just about order 3 beers please in Spanish!!! :hmmm

Also - Wearing just a bikini top at Aventura Park is a No no, as well as blokes having there top off at the Park.

Same again, if you are Having Meals in the Hotel Restarant..

Buses wont allow men to travel with no vest/tshirt on, the same goes for women in bikini tops/ swimsuits.

I think thats the same in most holiday places in spain. My husband always takes a tee-shirt, thrown over his bum bag when we are walking about to put on to go into restaurants etc also some shops like supermarkets etc don't like bare chested men etc either in the shops. Usually have a sign on door. Karen
